Apparently Wings were shopping Hudler at the draft. No surprise. My guess is he'll be gone in a week if they can get something decent in return.

That Ehrhoff deal is pretty solid for the Sabres. They gave themselves a nice window with $4 mil cap hit, because Ehrhoff is definitely worth that for at least the first 6-7 years of that deal unless he gets injured. And with an owner that is absolutely loaded I don't think they'll be afraid to just eat the contract in the last few years and they can even bury him in the minors towards the end of it if he's not playing to expecations.

The Sabres really improved their defense - they would have destroyed Philly with these guys in the lineup

Eating the contract the last 3 years won't be a problem he makes $3mil total those last 3 years. Hell, he makes over half of the money in his first 3 years. Again this is what the NHL wanted. They wanted the average of the deal so teams couldn't play with the cap and pay a guy 10mil in a year they had the cap space and $1mil when they didn't.

Anyone else think if there's a prolonged NBA lockout that could get a lot of fans back into hockey?

Won't hurt but if the NBA comes back mid-season those fans will run back. The best case scenario for the NHL is that the NBA cancels the whole season and the NHL DOES NOT miss any games next season.

Wings getting closer to re-signing Patrick Eaves. Great news. I really like what he brings to the team.

Yeah I'm not being productive today. Salo off the market. Re-signs with the Canucks for one year at $2mil. That's not terrible honestly. 90 minutes can't go fast enough.

Any news about CBJ negotiations with Wiz?

I'd be surprised if the Bruins signed anyone today even though I think they should. Chiarelli seems to think the team will be fine with letting Ryder and Kaberle walk and bringing up a couple kids to replace them. I don't agree with it myself, I think you should always be looking to improve even if you just won the cup.

Wiz said he's going to test the market but he'll check back with Columbus before he signs a contract anywhere else.

Only thing I've heard is they continued talking this morning. Could be a deal before noon. If not he gets a 30 year deal with a cap hit of 2mil from someone. :freak

They don't need a whole lot. Adding the 2nd tier guys might be the best. Give it a week and the prices will come down.

I wasn't a big fan of what I saw from Caron last year, and he's slotted in to the 3rd line right now. We also need to sign a d-man for sure because the Bruins are very thin on the back end especially if someone goes down. I'm hoping the can bring in Jovanovski for a reasonable price.

I'll arm wrestle you for him... ;)

He would be a great vet presence on a young Avs blueline.

:lol I think he'd be very solid on the back end for the Bruins and he should come at a somewhat reasonable price. Does he have a cup yet?

Wings re-sign Eaves to a 3 year deal worth $1.2mil per. Not bad at all.

There will be. Keep an eye in here at the end of the summer or so. Joe is the admin of our league.

Yeah I definitely need to get in the Ants league this year. I won $200 for my money league last year. Thank you Corey Perry and Brad Richards! :lol

Nope, only played for FLA, VAN, and PHX so he's getting to that age where he may take a little less to sign with a contender... which pretty much rules out my Avs :lol

CBJ reportedly signs Wiz for 6 years and $33mil. 5.5mil cap hit. Today might be pretty boring.

Yeah I was hoping he hadn't won one yet because that definitely means the Bruins could be one of his preferred destinations.

And that Wiz deal has ouch written all over it for the CBJ's, but then again I guess you have to overpay to bring people in there.
