i'm not a poser. that would require me to caring more than i do. I live in Pittsburgh and start watching hockey on the 2nd Tuesday in April (the day after college basketball ends). I'm just a sports fan in general and find hockey to be mildly entertaining in the playoffs and it's either that or watch the Yankees/Angels/Red Sox or Phillies every night. I've tried getting into hockey as all of my neighbors are die hard fans, but i just can't get in to it the way they do. years of watching a sport can't be engrained in me after only living in a hockey city for four years.

The Preds!?!?!?! Its the Wings for sure. We're not dropping another at home this series.

I usually don't post until the playoffs in here because let's be honest, the Oilers don't give me a whole lot to talk about :lol

I hope not but this team can't score worth a damn. So I'm going with what my head is telling me. My heart wants the Wings of course.

It not that they CANT score worth a damn, they just haven't. Solving Pekka is gonna be tough. His play this series reminds me of J.S. Gegiure (Sp?) with Anaheim a few years back. I'd love to see Emmerton and Gustav step up and play Wings caliber hockey. Not the Emmerton hasn't been.

Also, Stewie needs not to F up.

Wings will not lose back-to-back at home. They weren't even that bad the other day. They controlled the puck for most of the game, Nashville was just very opportunistic in burying their chances when they got them.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

They can't keep taking penalties. Even if the refs are calling stupid ones. It screwed them in game 1 and hurt their start in game 3. I haven't seen a first round loss in 6 years and don't want to start now.

I leave for an hour and the trash talking starts. That's what I'm talking about.

Again, the more the merrier in this thread. The key? Don't take us seriously. Once you get past that, you'll have a great time. :thumbsup

Oh, and Shanahan is totally reeling now. I have a feeling the Weber non-suspension is going to haunt him for a long time. Possible legacy definer?

Yeah, Nashville's PP is rough when its on. Are PKers can only be perfect for so long before faltering.

He should probably lose his job based on how he's handled these playoffs. I'm not joking at all either.

Yeah that's what I mean... Not suspending Weber, and the chaos that ensued after around the league is probably what will define his tenure, despite the fact he started off so positively. Everyone will remember him for dropping the ball on the Weber situation.

From Adam Proteau on Twitter:

Quote:

Adam Proteau ‏ @Proteautype Arron Asham isn't a star, so he'll receive an 8-game suspension. Nicklas Backstrom is a star, so he'll receive 25% off at the NHL Store.
EDIT: But seriously, it looks like Shanahan is in back pedal mode, trying to make up for the Weber thing. Asham will get his balls handed to him, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Neal get something... if only for Shanny to "show" everyone he's not skurred to suspend stars.

Go on, Shanny, I dare you.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

Hagelin and Shaw get 3 for an unintentional hit. Crackner gets 1 for 7 hits to a defenseless player and Weber gets 0 for intentionally hitting the head, twice. Am I missing something here?

Yeah. He is setting a precedent to suspend now after letting Weber off and catching all that crap for it. No way anyone escapes with fines from here on.

Shaw has learned his lesson--next time headslam a guy in a non-hockey play off the puck.

:lol Aside from the shot that Asham gave Schenn after he knocked him down, he and Backstrom did the same exact thing.

I'll be legitimately surprised if Backstrom gets suspended. I really think being a star player gives you a huge advantage in the eyes of Shannahan.
