I think you all missed my point.

Philly fans have a history of turning against their "star" players. I'm not comparing the skill of McNabb and Rolen to Crosby. I'm not that idiotic.

The point I was getting across was that personally I would not condone Crosby's actions even if he was in orange and black.

Hartnell has taken a much more mature approach this season. Has he done stupid things in the past? Absolutely, and they've been pitiful. But Hartnell is getting paid to play with an edge and getting under the team's skin. There really is no correlation between Hartnell's previous actions and what transpired yesterday.

Another example that might be better in this situation is Dan Carcillo. Absolutely hated the trade and never liked anything from him.

Why is it okay for Hartnell, who is a very very good player to try and get under people's skin, but not Crosby? I remember when Sid first came into the league he was praised as having superstar skills with a 3rd liners attitude. You don't hear than anymore.

I hate the Red Wings more than any other team, but Zetterberg, Datsyuk, and Lidstrom are 3 of my favorite players.

I absolutely cannot stand Chris Pronger, but fuck that guy would have been so loved in Chicago.

You're arguments are so messed up it's unreal. If Toews was acting the way Crosby has, I would be BEYOND disappointed. Instead Toews and the rest of the guys who lead that team have brought the Hawks to OT in 4 straight playoff games, 3 times within the last two minutes, and two times within the last 20 seconds. Not to mention last year coming back from 3-0 and losing in OT. If the leadership on the Pens was anywhere near that of the Kings, Hawks, Rangers, or Coyotes, they would not be down 3-0.

Mateo, your visit in the thread today prompted me to remember the thing I liked most about the BOS/WAS game on Saturday...

Alexander Semin diving to stop that breakaway. If there is any bigger indicator that the Caps are starting to buy into Hunter's defensive scheme than Semin actually TRYING, I'd love to see it. :thumbsup Oh, and Holtby's been awesome.

Max Talbot and Brooks Oprik were/are the only two Penguins that I've actually liked.

I'm a huge fan of Jonathan Toews despite 2010, and I had no problem with Federov, Yzerman, or Lidstrom in '97 either.

Go look at how the Hawks reacted last year in Game 3 to a blatant hit to the head from Raffi Torres, then look at the rest of the series.

compare that to how the Pens reacted to a clean hit from Schenn. That boils down to leadership.

Instead of looking like idiots and giving into the goonery of the Canucks, the Hawks won the next 3 games and brought it to 3-3, and lost in OT to a much much better team than they were. They only got to OT thanks to a definition of leadership goal from Toews.

I fully expect the Flyers to sweep.

Leadership holds a team together and makes the team get their shit together when its all falling apart. Pronger did that, which is part of the reason Richards got shipped. Richards couldnt do it, everyone looked to Pronger when it mattered. Clearly Crosby didnt do that yesterday. He is basically the reason every scuffle turned into a brawl, atleast 4 ejections happened because of him alone. Timmonen, Letang, Hartnell, and Adams. Im sure Letang wanted to get thrown out when he was trying to avoid the fights.

Crosby is the captain, meaning he's inherently been placed in a leadership position. The majority of bullshit that went on yesterday started because of shit he personally did -- whacking at Bryz's glove, sticking Voracek's glove away, swinging at G after the linesman was there, yanking on Hartnell's jersey from behind, etc.

In response, his team completely fell apart around him, taking stupid penalties which will likely result in suspensions and looking like a bunch of goons in the process. Crosby didn't help himself after the game either, where he had the chance to discuss firing the team up and instead sounded like a 5 year old with his "I don't like them" rhetoric.

Everyone around hockey -- literally everyone -- is talking about what an immature punk Crosby was yesterday. And yet, somehow, you know more than everyone else, and Crosby is being treated unfairly yet again, or is suffering from some sort of post-concussion personality disorder (probably the stupidest thing I've heard on this topic). It's laughable.

Looking forward to this Bruins/Caps game. I wish it wasn't on at the same time as Rangers/Sens because I was wanting to watch that one as well. I guess I'll switch in between the two.

The Caps are doing a good job mucking these games up. Hunter knows they don't have the talent to hang with the Bruins so he has them playing a very tight and compact defensive style with very little forecheck, ala Tampa Bay. Holtby has been excellent but the team defense by the Caps has been very good because of the system Hunter has them playing. They are taking a lot of pressure off of Holtby.
