For example, Duncan Keith is being paid $8 million this year, so:

$8,000,000/82=$97,560.98*5=$487,804.88

So that's what Keith missed out on for those 5 games.

Right, this is what I have always thought....

...but, why isn't the salary just divided for each day of the season? So Keith is being paid nearly $100,000 for each game played but goes to practice for free? That's what I've never really understood.

Just how it works under the CBA. Keeps things a lot cleaner, or else then "Player A" might be taking a bigger chunk of his salary than "Player B", even though they both have a 3 game suspension, because "Player A" has more time between games.

It's a way of keeping things uniform/consistent.

If only they could do that for discipline.

Yeah. So really, that's not fair either. The enormous gap between max fine and suspension really is just ridiculous when it's all based on a judgment call from Shanahan's bullshit committee.

Seriously. I read a quote where Shanahan said that he equates 1 game in the playoffs to 12 games in the regular season...so that explains that.

And you factor in that it's Shea Weber...in Shanahan's head, he'd be suspending the best defenseman in the league 12 games.

It is fair for those guys that are suspended, but not fair when stuff like this happens, so it depends on what angle you look at if from. The $2,500 is too low, WAY too low. It should be a % of a players salary. 1/82=~0.0122. Make it that. That's the max fine. That's equal to one game's pay. So Weber could have been fined $91,463.41 (or Shanny could just say 1 games pay).

We've been way too nice to each other today, considering it's the playoffs.

Enough Weber talk. It's done, guy is scum as far as I'm concerned from now on, moving on.

Toews finally officially announces it. He's in tonight.

GAME ON FUCKERS.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Coyotes took a bunch of intentional penalties just to put the Hawks on the PP. Safer that way.

Yeah, Weber is a piece of shit. Maybe game 2 he will take his skate off and try to stab someone. His rationale: because of the cup.

If Shea Weber ever were to be suspended, his beard would just continue playing without him.

If Shanny wasn't gonna lay down any sort of punishment, I'd be swinging my stick like I was a lumberjack at the Predators. :lol

As long as he gets them somewhere so that they can play the next game, anything is fair.

It's easy to sum it up if you're just talking about practice. We're sitting here, and I'm supposed to be the franchise player, and we're talking about practice. I mean listen, we're sitting here talking about practice, not a game, not a game, not a game, but we're talking about practice. Not the game that I go out there and die for and play every game like it's my last but we're talking about practice man. How silly is that? ... Now I know that I'm supposed to lead by example and all that but I'm not shoving that aside like it don't mean anything. I know it's important, I honestly do but we're talking about practice. We're talking about practice man. We're talking about practice. We're talking about practice. We're not talking about the game. We're talking about practice. When you come to the arena, and you see me play, you've seen me play right, you've seen me give everything I've got, but we're talking about practice right now. ... Hey I hear you, it's funny to me too, hey it's strange to me too but we're talking about practice man, we're not even talking about the game, when it actually matters, we're talking about practice ... How the hell can I make my teammates better by practicing?

Alright, one more thing about this Weber thing and then I'm done for now:

Apparently Z's helmet was cracked in 3 spots due to Weber's wall smash.

Nice job Shanny on enforcing player safety. I'm pretty sure they were sending players to the box last night for farting on the ice but for some reason Weber gets off with a slap on the wrist for his act of insanity?

Well, when you add in the .1% salary loss, that slap hurts pretty bad...

What a terrible way of looking at it. I never thought Shanahan was the smartest guy around, but shit, that's moronic.

So I guess Keith could have waited to elbow Daniel until the playoffs and only gotten about a period and a half suspension :lol :lol

Looks like the Flames and Sutter are done.

Oh sorry to all our EC fans... there's a team that plays for the lesser Western Conference called the Calgary Flames. They've been run into the ground by two Sutter brothers. I know... to think the Western Conference is already so bad, to have someone so incompetent running the show is even worse.

;)
