It's ABD for me — anybody but Dallas

And that's just me being salty since they're a division rival for the Avs

I wear a Whalers hat on the regular because I love the logo

No one has yet asked me if I'm rooting for the Canes

Tempe votes no on an arena for the 'yotes. So, where do they end up? Bettman *has to throw in the towel on them now, doesn't he?

It's a shame Quebec doesn't have a team.

Re: The NHL Thread

I don't know if I have my timeline correct but in the late 80's the price of oil collapsed. The Oilers owner couldn't afford to pay Gretzky because he was an oil guy. The Soviet Union ran out of oil money. Canada produced oil so demand for the Loonie went way down and the price dropped and some of the Canadian franchises just couldn't compete because they were paid in Canadian dollars but many of their expenses were in dollars(salaries I believe).
I think the Loonie got down to 61 cents to the dollar.

Would love for hockey to be a thing in SLC.

Not enough big business support in Quebec City, unfortunately.

The NHL has also straight up said no on this already. It would also create massive issues for divisions and several teams like Detroit and Columbus have refused to go west again.

I feel really bad for Yotes fans. This has been a disgrace over 20 years. I do agree this was probably it for hockey in Arizona. I am of the belief that Houston is the right move for the team.

I think they should play an outdoor game in Quebec City

That’s about as close as I think they’re gonna get to getting the NHL back, sadly

They've had Keith Jones on talking about the 5OT epic between the Pens and Flyers. I remember that one well. Keith Primeau.

Edit: Bolts-Jackets in the Bubble was another good marathon

The first season I really paid attention to was 90-91

The Penguins won their first Cup that year

Jagr — who is still playing! — was a rookie
