Yeah, they sure did. This morning I was thinking back and to me the two biggest winners in the draft that didn't have a 1 or 2 pick were CO and LA.

They were not the only team in on Subban, they were just the team that agreed to take the entire contract. That is how they pulled it off.

Exactly. Nashville needed to dump salary and I think they recognized that Subban just isn’t that great of a defenseman. At least compared to all the other top-end guys they have.

Carl Soderberg moved to the Coyotes. Avs already have quite a bit of cap room, which leads me to believe they are going to make a big push for a free agent or two.

Would love to add Pavelski.

What a strange feeling to not be overly concerned about what the Blues do in the draft and free agency to finally capture that elusive Cup. I'll still obviously follow what happens with the roster but it's all with a sense of calm and peace that has not always accompanied past offseasons.

Our family friend that played for the Stars organization (minors) for years would be invited to the Stars training camp every year and he used to say that as far as pure hockey skill was concerned, Sergei Zubov was the best hockey player he'd ever shared ice with.

Hawks trade Anton Forsberg (good riddance) and Gustav Forsling to the Canes for Calvin de Haan and a prospect (3rd line tops) center. I know the Hawks D was lousy on PK last year but not having Crawford did not help at all - now we have a blue line corps that is costing a fortune (Keith, Seabrook, Maatta, de Haan, Gustafsson, Murphy - that is 25 mil hit for just those 5 guys alone.) Add in an NHL ready Henri Jokiharu - Adam Boqvist likely needs another year in the minors as do Ian Mitchell, Nicolas Beaudin - and and then there is Slater Koekkoek whom I am not sure why we resigned him. So we now have a stacked blue line with depth (do they trade one or more?) and I am almost certain Seattle will be taking one of the guys without a NMC in the expansion draft. Ugh, I know having too many defensemen is not a problem really but really, why are we collecting them like cards now? Have to think they are contemplating moving Gustafsson after his breakout year since he is an RFA after next season. Maybe trade away Gustafsson and someone like Saad to free up money and make a run at Marner or Panarin - I kid! :lol

Also, 17 back-to-backs is 34 games total, which is nearly HALF the season. That's the ridiculous part.

Avs acquire Burakovsky for a 2nd, 3rd, and prospect. Continues their trend of taking on guys with potential to play larger roles. He’ll play 2LW. Probably an indicator they are out on Panarin (if they were ever really in), which I am totally okay with.
