Agree to disagree then, my friend. I feel he may be overpaid, yes. But doing what he's done for such a crappy team ain't bad. Plus the way he's rounded out his game over the past 3-4 seasons to become a jack-of-all-trades type guy (i.e. penalty kill). Plus, his natural skill set... which is about as dynamic as it comes. The guy can skate, he's big, and he has one of the top 5 wrist shots in the game. Simply lethal. I'd love to see what he could do with some linemates like Datsyuk and Franzen.

And although he hasn't done anything in the NHL playoffs, he proved during these last olympics that he can play on the big boy stage.

Obviously, I'm a Nash fan :lol

Right, I mean, like I said, he is a great player, I just don't see him as being "elite". He's not on that level of Datsyuk/Toews/Malkin/etc., yet he's being paid to be.

It would be one of the few "dumb" ones in terms of salary and length. Even when they throwing away money pre-lockout there wasn't any like that. The cap for next year is what would be the big ?. With Nash and minus Filppula for arguments sake, they would still have 19mil in cap space based off this years cap. They would still need to replace/re-sign Lidstrom but they could in theory pull it off. Will they? I don't think so. Would the Jackets send him 3 hours north up US-23? Probably not.

Yeah, I just don't see it. It's very "un-Red Wings-like" to pick up that contract. They pick up guys that take less money just so they can play in Detroit, I wouldn't see them taking on a contract like that.

He's definitely well within the top 250.

Well, only when he's not triple teamed.

I can agree with that :thumbsup ... I have to wonder, though, if playing on an elite team would put him up there with those guys. Like's been discussed, the potential is definitely there. And the common denominator on all three guys you mentioned is they have played and do play for great teams.

Who I'd like to see is Selanne. But the stupid Ducks are playing well now. He would be the perfect rental for this team. You could even put him on the 3rd line with Helm and Cleary. If the Wings make BIG moves it'll be offseason. IE Suter, Parise or the like.

Same. Worsened by a penalty shot goal in the first minute, obviously. Oh well, go NYR!

Yup, that's the good part. Didn't have the advantage that Keith and Seabrook had going through their growing pains when the team was in the cellar 8 years ago.

What the fuck was that from Scott?? Late as hell and an interference even if the whistle wasn't blown.

Ew. C'mon biron. Two five holes? And 1 shot in a 4 minute pp? Yikes.

The only thing biron is doing is hurting his trade value and helping henriks vezina case :lol
