Right, I mean, like I said, he is a great player, I just don't see him as being "elite". He's not on that level of Datsyuk/Toews/Malkin/etc., yet he's being paid to be.

With Nash and minus Filppula for arguments sake, they would still have 19mil in cap space based off this years cap. They would still need to replace/re-sign Lidstrom but they could in theory pull it off. Will they? I don't think so. Would the Jackets send him 3 hours north up US-23? Probably not.

Yeah, I just don't see it. It's very "un-Red Wings-like" to pick up that contract. They pick up guys that take less money just so they can play in Detroit, I wouldn't see them taking on a contract like that.
