ah yes, chris kunitz riding the coattails of sidney crosby
|
Re: The NHL Thread: featuring Gritty, the regular season mascot champ.
Kunitz was a damn good player for a long time. His goal totals are certainly inflated due to playing with Sid but the guy has undoubtedly had a fantastic career.

This is Brooks Orpik cursing in Russian in the background unexpectedly during a Russian language interview being conducted with Alex Ovechkin. It throws Ovie way off track, and it’s the best thing I’ve seen in a while. |

Re: The NHL Thread: featuring Gritty, the regular season mascot champ.
Been away for while - Andrej Serka activated, Cam Talbot traded for some guy and Zack Kassian’s best friend Sam Gange is back! The season is saved!
(Actually these are reasonable moves, not saving the season, but better than a kick in the face) |
Re: The NHL Thread: featuring Gritty, the regular season mascot champ.
That "some guy" is a pretty decent young goalie who will have a career in the NHL as a backup and starting. It was a good trade for both teams.

Re: The NHL Thread: featuring Gritty, the regular season mascot champ.
yeah I do think was a good move. Big salary dump for the oilers, not a UFA at the end of this season and good potential. And Carey Hart gets to play with a good mentor where there’s already a good relationship.

kucherov with 99 points in 60 games. lemieux and jagr in 95-96 were the last to be on that pace.

Wild game in Chicago tonight - Hawks go down 2-0 in the first 3 minutes, come roaring back to tie it up quick and go to the first intermission up 5-4, Ottawa ties it at 5 a minute into the second but the Hawks pot two more to make it 7-5 heading into the third then go up 8-5 four minutes into the third to make it a comfortable 3 goal lead then give up 2 more in ten minutes and it was dicey - made worse by a soft penalty with less than two minutes left so the Sens were on a PP with the goalie pulled for the last 1:40 but the Hawks held on to win 8-7. Couple other notes, Kane extends that point steak to 18 games and his assist streak to 17 games (only two players in NHL history have longer assist streaks - Gretzky at 23 and Oates at 18) - pretty amazing. Dominic Kahun commits his first NHL penalty in his 60th game (Lady Byng anyone? :lol) and apologizes to the guy for catching his abdomen. Both starting goalies were pulled 6 minutes before the end of the first period (no shock there) and DeBrincat pulls off his 4th career hattie (Kane has 5) with 2 assists. Hawks are now a point out of a WC slot and could be in by weeks end if they can take 4 points against the Wings Wednesday and the Avs Friday! Gonna go down to the wire in the west. Sure as hell beats last season where they were pretty much eliminated (not mathematically but de facto) so it will be nice to see them battling down the stretch! Seabrook is out with an abdominal sprain, no timeline on his return while Crawford is ready to go and might start vs the Wings. Make it or not this should be a fun stretch run for them and they are heating up, just have to cut down on the defensive miscues! |
