What a save on the gaborik PK by Mike Smith. I'm really impressed by him tonight. Let's get this second point in the SO now.

Very nice win for the Flyers. Bobrovsky looked spectacular down the stretch. Imagine, if the Flyers would have made a decent clearing chance on that one PK, he probably would have had a shut out

I think it's when the guy in the funny equipment doesn't allow circular vulcanized rubber discs to go into that rectangular thingy behind him.

How the hell do the Isles always beat the Wings? I don't get it. It's like Franzen playing the Avs....sorry Matty.

I love Babcock sarcastically clapped when the Isles took a timeout with thirty seconds last night.

Understood, my friend. I sympathize, only I say, "How the hell does <insert any team> always beat the Avs? I don't get it."

Sid skates. Waiting on the report that he fell and hurt himself and Malkin in the process.

I've given up on Crosby reports because every other one contradicts with another.

Can't believe they put Ovechkin in. That's a bigger joke than 4 Ottawa Senators starting.

I am not the least surprised. I think it's a complete joke. But, I am not surprised.

Yeah I had a bad feeling he was going to make it. It's crap and coming from a Caps fan, I feel like it's detrimental to him, because this reinforces to him that his mediocrity on the ice is still outweighed by his star power off the ice. This basically says "it's ok to be a 30 goal guy, just as long as you wear cool sunglasses and safari hats during the skills challenge, you'll still be considered one of the best players in the league."

The fact that Ovechkin made it and Nick Backstrom didn't is just ludicrous.

Yup, and he is going to eat that shit up. The league is basically telling him "You don't have to try to earn your stardom, we already handed it to you on a silver plate before seeing if you'd be a consistent player throughout the years".

Name recognition and that's what that whole stupid weekend is about.

Would have liked to see Kronwall on it for the year he's having but again I'm not a fan of this weekend the way I used to be. Also should be pointed out Lidstrom not on it cause he went to Shanny a few weeks back and said he'd prefer the weekend off.

I don't even bother complaining about the all-star rosters anymore, as it's just the same year after year. You always have guys that deserve to be there, but then there's always those few who should be on and aren't, and guys that get in on name recognition alone.

I always enjoy the skills competition, and I enjoyed watching the captains pick their teams last year, but rarely do I sit down and watch the whole all-star game... I believe for the last one I just caught the highlights. :lol

I think the NHL All-star game got a face lift with the captains picking the teams. I actually sat down and watched last year because of it.

I thought it was a great idea, but again, it didn't draw too much more interest towards the actual game for me than in years past.

Any predictions on who will be the final pick this year? How hilarious would it be if they did it to Kessel, just as a joke?:lol

It's definitely one you just switched back and forth or while you are doing other stuff. Not one I will just sit there and watch it from start to finish.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

Let's at least have some fun with this. Out of the rosters, who would you cut, and who would you add in their place?

Cuts:
Milan Michalek (Having a breakout year in goals, but more deserving players out there)
Daniel Alfredsson (respect the hell out him, but like Michalek, I would pick others over him)
Logan Couture
Alex Ovechkin
Dustin Byfuglien
Carey Price

Additions:
Teemu Selanne
Jordan Eberle
Niklas Backstrom
Patrick Sharp or Kris Versteeg. Either one, but leaning more towards Sharp.
Michael Del Zotto
Mike Smith
