Series changing screw up. Good going Rangers

Rangers blew it hard there. Probably a series changing goal. I'm bummed.

We usually do them around the same time as the NHL awards.

Or whenever I feel like it. I remember that one year things were getting a little tense in here during playoff time so I did the awards early to lighten things up. We'll see how things go this year!

Thanks for the offer! I felt pretty good about last year's awards, don't think it went off the rails, but the biggest thing I want to avoid is being repetitive and disingenuous. Believe it or not, I want this to be fun for you guys. :) So some additional input would be awesome.

I was actually thinking about doing nominations from you guys and stuff. Maybe a Google poll or something where we can vote? Get all y'all involved? Let me know what you guys think!

It's amazing how one loss can feel like a season ender. That was an awful loss for the Rangers. Ugh

He actually said he took it as a compliment that Babcock said that he worked hard and agreed with him that the Capitals have much more dynamic weapons than himself

In other words, no big deal and the Caps fans making a big deal out of it are reaching for something to gripe about

This is what I thought too, but I wanted to hear if there was any context. :thumbsup

Very solid stuff. You EARN that Lappy Award every year.

My only suggestion for next time is that you use the phrase "damn fine" or "damn good" when describing something about the Hawks.

Sorry, I worded that poorly, I meant back on the rails as in lend a hand to ease the burden this time around, your awards are always on point. And we love you for doing them.

I'm down for taking thread nominations. I have some ideas already that I'll run by you when I have more time.

And I'm gonna go ahead and nominate myself for everything.

And if you ever need to reference the refs in a Hawks game be sure to toss some cocksuckers and Stevie Wonders in there.

Would not get too worried, they are headed back to MSG with the series tied, CBL and Wild are in far worse positions.

Hawks are the better team, Rhinne, their D and their backchecking plus blocked shots won that one for the Preds. Chicago D and Crawford looked solid. If I am Q I am just making a few small changes to generate more chances and get more screens, Maybe move Hartman to the top line, toss Schmaltz down to the third line, scratch Hayden and slot Rasmussen on the fourth line for some extra experience or perhaps scratch Schmaltz and toss Hayden and his physical presence onto the third line. No reason at all to mess with the second line, the D or goalie.

Should be a great day for hockey - Chicago, Washington and Boston should all be great games and I hope the Ducks get beat on.

Gotta find something to gripe about, historically (unlike the Caps) the Hawks are capable of getting past the second round! :evil

I have a feeling that a major theme in this year's thread awards will be banners.

Re: The NHL Thread (where the Presidents Trophy matters!)

Have to say, playoff experience does make a difference. I am not nearly as worried today as I was last night. I like a lot of what I have seen from the Rangers and they take a series split home. This team has the experience to recover from last night. Basically, this is a normal Rangers playoff series, and I'm ready for it!

Re: The NHL Thread (where the Presidents Trophy matters!)

Oilers shouldn't take 6 penalties in a game. Scoring 2 short handed softens the blow though.
What's going with CBJ, I haven't paid a lot attention to them this year but I figured they'd give a banged up pens more trouble.

Probably a good decision seeing as in a few days it looks like it'll be the Jackets fans doing the crying

He should be suspended a minimum of 5 games for that, I would say 2 but this is playoff hockey and hitting him where it hurts worst sends a nice message to the next jerk who even thinks of pulling something like that against another player.

should honestly just bash calvert in the head with their stick.

TheLastPig 04-15-2017 10:37 AM

Re: The NHL Thread (where the Presidents Trophy matters!)

If Kuhnhakl got really hurt we would be suspended for the series at minimum. If the NHL wants this shit to stop you ban him 10 games. Period.

But they dont. This is classic old boys league bs. He will get 2 MAX. Im thinking he doesnt get anything tbh.

Roose13 04-15-2017 11:04 AM

Re: The NHL Thread (where the Presidents Trophy matters!)

That Calvert shit is inexcusable. Should be done for the series minimum regardless how long it goes.

My bad man, I was unable to watch the game last night and did not have my Gretzky jersey on for luck. Was dealing with some personal stuff that was more important than an NHL game. So yeah, go ahead and blame me! :lol

Yeah, sadly if he gets 2 games I would be shocked, more likely he will get a slap on the wrist fine. This should just not be happening this day an age (admittedly I have no issue with a retaliatory cross check or whatever if you hit one of a teams main guys) but the NHL does not seem overly eager to put the hammer down and start heavier fines and longer suspensions.

Re: The NHL Thread (where the Presidents Trophy matters!)

Bruins look hungry. If they can get some guys healthy and back in the lineup, they could be a surprise team this year.

Also, Ottawa is not very good. They have some good players, but they don't really look like a playoff team. Very undisciplined play.

Haha, no one to blame but the team for losing a game they were 17 seconds away from winning.

Hope everything is okay as well man!

I keep forgetting that there are 3 periods each game in this series.

Sens score 2 in 2 minutes and the game is tied.

Oh my god that pass from Erik Karlsson on the Brassard goal was ridiculous.

Re: The NHL Thread (where the Presidents Trophy matters!)

We had baseball on in the office. I go "oh wow, the Bruins game went to OT." We switched it to that, and in 10 seconds it was over. Back to baseball! :lol:lol
