I wouldn't mind seeing the Jackets pick up Carter at all. I doubt it will happen though

How funny would it have been if Luongo won the Vezina last night? That would have been pure comedy.

Winnipeg should be announcing their team name this weekend from the sound of it.

The Flyers are in a pretty similar situation to the Hawks last year, if they sign Bryz for even $5.5m or so cap hit a year. You guys are going to have to dump Versteeg and Hartnell/Carter, Leino will be gone, and then you're likely going to be in the situation the Hawks were, where you have to replace those guys with cheap players.

It's probably not quite as bad as the Hawks last year because the cap is going up so much this offseason, but I wouldn't be too confident about the whole situation.

Was just going to post that. Bryz is for sure a Flyer now. And nice move for the Jackets. FINALLY getting Nash some help.

Serious question: will the team still be in Columbus when his contract is up? :lol

Why the hell is Columbus giving that much up? They probably could have got him for just a 1st. Philly needs the cap relief bad.

Not if they don't fix that lease.

To get something you have to give something. I agree with you that it's probably too much, however the Flyers weren't going to give him away. They were going to get a package like this.

It all depended on how much CBJ wanted a "scorer" (see misses the net more often than not).

The Flyers were going to be forced to either pretty much give him away or let Bryzgalov sign somewhere else.

They also got #8 overall! That's awesome. I hope they pick up Ryan Strome (if he's still available).

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

I just think the CBJ's should have realized that Carter needed to be moved no matter what for Philly to sign Bryz, and I doubt there were many teams that wanted to take on Carter's contract so it's not like there were many other teams driving up the price.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

Wow. Very good deal for the Flyers considering the position they were in. I don't know much about Voracek, only what I've seen when he plays the Hawks, but he seems to be a pretty solid player especially at his salary.

When you've been as bad as they've been and had the attendance they had, you get forced into making a deal sometimes. They need an attention getting trade or signing and this is it. The #8 pick could turn into something but you never know. You've got a sure thing coming in now.

As much as I think Columbus overpaid Carter and Nash is going to be very fun to watch.

What the hell else is there to talk about in Ohio? There's not 1 decent sports franchise in that whole state besides maybe the Reds.

That's exactly what they need. Their current pace they were close to being the Thrashers. This should be a good move and while they contract is crazy you know he's not jumping ship.

@GMillerTSN Gord Miller
Mike Richards to LA for a package including Brayden Schenn and Wayne Simmonds? Hearing from good sources that it could happen.
