Yeah, who knows what they have spent. I have little faith in pro-athletes to manager their money, but hopefully he has. My point was that her salary is nothing to scoff at and would be more than enough to support their family. She will also be the one with a big career in their family into their 50's and 60's long past the time anyone even remembers who Trouba was.

I think fans have very unrealistic and problematic takes when it comes to player's lives. I get from a NY Rangers standpoint they want to move on from his cap hit. I get that he is no longer playing anywhere near the value of his contract. However, the man negotiated his contract, and they gave him those rights for a no-move and limited move after 15 years. He also has every right to decide what is best for his family. I can tell you with 100% certainty that if I had a baby under 1 year old and my wife was still finishing her residency at a local hospital, I would also be telling the Rangers I am staying, or I will only accept moves to NJ or the Islanders. Anything else and I am refusing to report to any other team.

I thought that was one of the conditions for getting the team?

I've heard there's gonna be some poor sightlines in the Delta Center

Trouba has been out of gas the last two deep playoff runs. He plays too hard during the regular season. Keep him on the 2nd pair and not play him as much in the regular season and things should be good.

I know it is an unpopular opinion in Rangers world right now, but I agree with you. I think he has more to give and this last season he never fully recovered from his injury. I think reduced minutes and a full offseason and he will be fine and maybe even able to step up and play his full game come playoffs.

Rangers fans (not me obviously) always massively panic and overreact. Fox was also getting flamed hard during these playoffs. I totally believe Trouba's contract is way too much money, but I am also cool with keeping him and either moving him as a part of a package at the deadline or just waiting out the contract at this point. I am not someone who thinks the window is closing in the next year or two. Especially when we have potential big upgrades coming from our prospect pool. The only thing that does concern me is Igor getting overpaid and crushing our cap.

the arena was not built with hockey in mind, so there are some beyond awful sightlines. like, cant see the goalie sightlines. theres no way it can be used as a permanent home for hockey.

idk if its part of the plan, but the jazz should just move to this new arena when its done. delta center is going to be 35+ years old at that point and they would need their own upgraded home soon enough anyway.

Hey gang. A post a long time coming....

I wanted to relay a huge, public thank you to any and everyone who donated to the "swordo84 Oliers-happy-good-times-fund". I'm proud to share that collectively we made a $250 (cdn) donation to CureSMA Canada (https://curesma.ca/about-us/). This charity has been immensely helpful to me and my family in the past, and I always love an opportunity to donate more. We had a son stricken with SMA, and unfortunately lost him just short of being 4 months old. He would have turned 8 a week ago. Despite the likelihood of him being a Leafs fan, I made the donation on his birthday before we went out for our annual family fun day in his honour.

Again, from the bottom of my heart, and on behalf of my family, we deeply appreciate the generosity shown from complete strangers on a 90's band message board (what are we even doing here?! lol).

Time for puckdrop yet? Eager to see how I'll be disappointed this season :)

Scary moment for Chytil again last night. Glad he came back into the game. Lindgren on the other hand looks like he might be out to start the year. I think the wear-and-tear is starting to catch up with him and how he plays the game unfortunately.

Month-to-month too is not great. Also looks like Patrick Laine might miss most of the season if the rumors about an ACL/MCL are true. Tough to take a knee on knee like that in the preseason.

Do you think he got too much or too little? I am a little confused.

I am hoping that the Rangers have a deal for Igor done in the next few days, but it looks like this might go until next off season. Not ideal. Shesty will probably break the record for contracts.

Igor Shesterkin rejects an 8-year $88 million dollar contract ($11 million/year) today offered by Chris Drury and the NY Rangers. Likely this was an opening offer in a series of offers coming in the next 2 days. My guess is Igor is asking $12 million/year and a full no trade clause. I would guess that NY will offer something like $11.5 million/year with a full no trade or $12 million/year with some trade options. I would guess that Shesterkin will reject those as well and eventually the Rangers will sign him to $12 or $12.5 million/year with a full no trade. The Rangers have no leverage in this situation. At this point, I would rather them just finish the deal and move on. We are going to have to get creative with cheaper contracts down the lineup.

Their starting 15 remains vastly unchanged from a capability perspective since Hank. And if he couldn’t do it….bad deal for Rangers.

I totally agree. I am in the camp of not overpaying for goaltending. I have said that for years. I am just acknowledging that this is a losing battle, and Igor is going to get paid, and it will (likely) be the Rangers that pay him. The Rangers don't have another option in net right now, so their hands are tied. Might as well just pay him and not let it linger.

The hope: Igor gets paid and is happy, Drury can cap manage and find cap friendly players and the cap goes up so that NY can still ice a competitive roster with cup intentions.

What I think will happen: Igor gets paid and is happy, NY is a good team but never wins a cup while he is playing. Cycle continues.
