I hope Winnipeg hold on to Mark Stuart. He was very solid with the Bruins and he's a tough gritty veteran defenseman who could do a lot for guys like Byfuglien and Bogosian.

In all seriousness though it's amazing the Bruins have a top 10 pick once again after winning the cup. A lot of mock drafts I've seen have them taking Murphy, who is supposed to be a pretty good PMD. I'd definitely like us to take a D-Man because it seems all of our top prospects are forwards.

I'm looking forward to it actually and hope it happens. The competition figures to be quite a bit more intense, but the Avs will be much better next year, I can guarantee that. Their youth should match up well with the youth of teams like LA, Anaheim, etc., and make for some fun games. Sorry to swordo and MikeD, but it's just hard for me to get too excited about the Avs playing the Oilers or the Wild right now :shrug. The travel schedule should also benefit the Avs.

Yeah I'm with ya. Oilers while up and coming aren't there yet and the Wild have always been boring to watch.

This could be huge and hurt the Coyotes and scare away and potential buyers. If Quebec's new arena is on it's way to being built then the Coyotes could move there but Avs would still move to the Pacific and just take their spot. The teams that would lose out would be whatever Central team that would have moved and Dallas who probably would have headed to the Central and got out of the Pacific.

I found that funny. And if you take away the first 3 games of 2010 when the Yotes were up 2-1 then he's lost 7 of his last 8.

Adding to my apprehension if I were looking at signing Jagr would be the fact that he's been out of the NHL for a few years. The KHL is getting more and more competitive, but is definitely not the NHL.

Lidstrom = Norris Trophy finalist. Jagr = two years away from the NHL which is a much more physical league from what I understand.

We have a family friend who played for our local AHL team who, as he was getting into his later 30s, was thinking of retiring. Long story short, he went over and played for some European clubs, including a stint in the KHL, and was able to extend his career into his 40s. He said it's much less physically demanding than the north american game, and the shorter seasons help as well.

I was thinking the same thing... Malkin and him could theoretically be a pretty good fit as they play a very similar style.

So all of you who said Bryz wouldn't get a raise seem to have been wrong. I knew he would I just didn't think it really would have been the Flyers. But I guess after playing 20 goalies they felt the need. The rumored deal is 7 years at about $7mil per. I know the Flyers are a better team in terms of talent than the Coyotes but... I dunno.

That isn't the deal, Tim. He was looking for 7/50$ in Phoenix, or on the market. I can assure you that he's not getting 7 mil as a cap hit.

Personally, I don't see why the Flyers wouldn't try giving Bobrovsky one more year as the starter. He was pretty solid in his rookie year. Signing Bryzgalov to a long term deal makes Bobrovsky pretty much useless. And if Bob didn't have a good year they could go after a goalie at the deadline or try to sign someone else during the off season.

I'll give my opinion. I think he's worth about what he was making. Around $5mil or so. People can throw him under the bus for the playoffs all they want, he was still their MVP during the regular season. That team didn't have a whole lot of talent. And I think the whole talk of them moving got into everyone's head. Is he worth $7mil? Hell no. Definitely not at 7 years if that were to be true. But do the Flyers do it to get a true #1? They might. It's their biggest problem. I don't think anyone can argue that one.

I agree they need a #1. But they'll have to shed some salary to sign him and they'll lose a lot of their depth. I just have a hard time understanding making a major move like this when Bobrovsky was pretty good for a large majority of the year last year.

Ed Snider came down and said I want Bryzgalov. Literally. When the owner of the team says that he's sick and tired of seeing a guy like Tim Thomas come in and win the Stanley Cup and always constantly hearing the goaltender carsouel in Philly--it's time for a move.

Bryz is worth at the most 6 or so mil. Definitely not 7, IMO. The Flyers are making every and all effort to sign him, and it's pretty much a done deal from what I've heard.

One thing I will disagree about is the reasoning that the Flyers are going to lose a lot of depth. If they move a guy like Carter, yeah they're losing quite a few goals, but they're still at least a two scoring line team.

I agree that they still have 2 scoring lines, but this past year they had 3 pretty solid scoring lines. Losing guys lik Carter and Leino is going to hurt.

If they pay him 7 per, Carter wont be the only one on his way out. The one thing that will be interesting is how he fits in with the Flyers system. Phoenix kind of insulated him at times with a more defensive system.

And Thomas played like crap in the 2009-2010 season because of a hip injury. It was downplayed throughout the season but it obviously effected his play a ton.
