Shits a rout. Rangers had so many opportunities early on. Finally capitalizing.

Flyers will continue to be a joke as long as Snider and Holmgren are around. So fucking bad.

And what the fuck is Akeson doing on the ice? Hope he doesn't dress the rest of the series.

I told my buddy before that game that Brad Richards would be the MVP of this Rags series.

Akeson will probably be in til Downie is healthy. I think I would rather him than Rosehill

Doesn't matter anyway. Flyers aren't winning this series. Holmgren has destroyed this team.

The Flyers aren't winning this series simply because the Rangers are better. Pretty simple. No other excuses needed.

I need to get all my angst out early. I know they still are in this, but damn does their performance smart a little.

Great win by the Rangers.

Absolutely, but why are the Rangers better? Probably because our dope of a GM decided to trade away a Vezina winning goaltender, a trio that went on to win a Cup, and a 30-goal scorer.

Another Sharks fan? Where is Erik, he hasn't been in here in awhile. You two could cry together when this series is over.

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

Bobrovsky trade was dumb only because he was still young and cheap, but I doubt many saw him winning the Vezina at the start of last year. Also, I still believe that getting Simmonds, Vorachek, Schenn, and Couts is a nice haul for Richards and Carter. Its easy to harp on Holmgren when looking back at things, but I do not think having Bobrovsky and Carchards on the team would make the Flyers any better than they are now.

Bobrovsky instantly makes this team better, as he's considerably better than Mason and Emery.

As far as Richards and Carter, who knows, but when you trade them, plus JVR, plus Sharp in '05, it's pretty indicative of a front office that has no fucking clue what it's doing.

Sharp had 10 goals in 66 games for the Flyers, not exactly a force at the time. Though to be fair they did get someone way shittier in return. The big thing with all your complaints is that you are using hindsight to argue.

Until the Flyers have a competent defense no goalie instantly makes this defense better unless they are named Jonathan Quick. Also, Mason and Bobrovsky did not have too different of years. 2.50 vs 2.38 GAA, 33 vs 32 wins, .91 vs .923 save percentage. All the first numbers are Masons.

How do you suggest one evaluates a GM without using hindsight? The job of a GM is to evaluate talent and make roster decisions on that basis while staying within a given budget. Good GMs make moves that help their teams. Bad GMs do not. Holmgren's decisions over the past five years or so prove that he is not a good GM.

Unfortunately, as long as Snider is around, they'll continue to do things "The Flyer Way," which at this point means an incestuous, stagnant organization that signs slow defensemen and talentless goons while keeping just enough skill on the ice to make the playoffs but never win.
