they're going to cruise into the playoffs anyways, what's the big deal?

He'll be rested for the first round.

Looch calling Emelin a "chicken" for that hit last night.

That hit gave me a boner, BTW.

:lol and cruise right out of the playoffs

honestly, i can only see 1 team in the east (Boston) winning the cup, and maybe 2 or 3 out west (st. louis, chicago, maybe anaheim) able to raise it

everyone else in the league is just ok, very top heavy year IMO

Idk man, dont sell short on the rangers, if they get good goaltending which they should they could be dangerous. Also I think San Jose is a little underrated.

The East could be fun to watch for the not knowing who will win factor. Philly is getting hot and Tampa and the Habs are playing well and if Detroit gets healthy they could be scary. Whoever gets out of the East might be better off than the West, even though I do think the top 4 in the West are great. They are gonna beat up on each other.

Matty, assuming the Hawks play the Avs in the first round, I'm going to fly out to Colorado and go to a game at the Pepsi.

San Jose is a bit of a sleeper pick, and I think that's better for them. They really are having a pretty good season, but I think analysts and such have bet on them a lot the past 3-4 years only to have to eat crow when the team didn't meet expectations, so now they're afraid to even bring them up. Wouldn't be surprised if they made some noise with the focus more squarely on CHI, STL, and even ANA. Still some question in goal, with Stallock getting awfully close to taking over the starting job from Niemi, but that might provide just the amount of pressure Niemi needs to pick up his game (which hasn't been THAT bad this year). Astute observation :thumbsup

Philly is playing well but I don't think they have the goaltending to make a run.

I am hoping for the Sharks to get bounced yet again. It's just fun for me now. I don't really like anyone out West so it'll be fun to watch with not caring who wins. Would like to see Miller win something though..but hate Ott so I'm torn there.

Everyone is complaining about that hit because it's a similar type of hit Marchand got suspended for. Marchy used to do it because he's so small to avoid getting blasted IMO. But yeah, it's a clean hit on Lucic and he looks like a bit of diva complaining about it, he does that sometimes like he thinks someone should fight him for hitting him.

I'm still laughing at the fact that Habs fans online were saying Lucic needed Chara to step in for him against Emelin lol.

Being abrasive and intimidating is a huge part of Looch's game, so I understand it from that point of view. Has to maintain his image. But yeah I can agree that he sounds a little silly bringing it up after the game. He said something like, "stand up and hit me like a man next time." Dude, he did hit you like a man. We all saw it. And it was awesome.

Nothing against Looch. He's one of my favorite players on the Bruins. But sometimes you just gotta take a hit like a man and move on.

the thing is, you could've said the same thing about fleury the last few years given how awesome his regular seasons have been

mason isn't a weakness now, but playoffs are a different animal

exactly

not saying he won't keep up the strong play, but being a pens fan, i know the total insignificance of regular season performance

Gotta defend your team. I see it from Michigan State fans here. Years of not winning the big game? I don't mean that as a slight towards the Flyers, but they haven't won. Had 1997 Cup Final, 2000 ECF, 2004 ECF and 2010 Cup Final. Gotta sting to get that close and not win it at least once.

You're kidding me, right? The team started out the season with a record of 1-7, and he was at the helm of all of it. You don't think he's been in a high pressure situation yet?

That's hilarious.

to his credit he's been great for the flyers, but turning around a 1-7 start doesn't even compare to playoff pressure

edit: especially in front of the philly fans, he lets in ONE soft goal and wells fargo is all over him

I personally don't. I mean you feel the pressure when you go to 1-7 but after that, people don't expect you to do much, so you can play your game. Playoffs are a different beast. I'm not saying he's gonna be bad, and I'm not saying he's gonna be great. I want to see what he does before I make a decision either way.
