Nailed it. Smart move by the Sabres. Like I said before, no need keeping him when you're rebuilding.

Quoting for maximum effect. What a bonehead, if you cancel out the 2nd rounders it looks significantly worse too.

I did hear the prospect is a 'sniper' playing in Sweden.

It's not that I dislike Halak, just that I do not understand McPhee's hard on for playing a million goalies every season

Hey Halak can't beat them now.

Legwand deal is unknown prospect, 3rd and Patrick Eaves.

It's more of a "LOL CAPS" thing than Halak.

I like Halak.

I think they have all the first rounders. Other teams won't even be showing up until the second round starts.

This is why some Wings fans need to shut up. Some are criticing Holland getting Legwand as a panic move. You mean a move to help your team in the playoffs? If they get just Pavel and Weiss back in a week then they have a nice top 3 centers.

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

Sabres got a decent young goalie in return. Neuvy's a little soft, but when healthy and on his game he's very good

Plus it's impossible to get a fair shot as a starting goalie in Washington, so who really knows what he's capable of

Great move by the Caps.

Holtby is okay in my book, but I think Halak gives them more stability.

Vancouver sounds like an absolute mess. Gillis doesn't last until the draft, does he?

Doesn't matter. They'll still draft the wrong guys.

The issue I have is the rental factor. Assuming the Caps don't resign him, we gave away Neuvirth for nothing. McPhee is delusional if he thinks Halak is the answer for turning this team around

There are a lot of keys needed for the Caps at this point, not just one.

However, I think a Holtby/Halak pairing going forward (if they can re-sign him, which I think they can) would go a long way in stabilizing their goalie position.

Not sure if its been said yet, but I'm reading that the 2nd Round pick in the Vanek trade is conditional. If Montreal misses the playoffs, no picks are exchanged. If Montreal makes the playoffs, the Islanders get a 2014 2nd Round pick and send Montreal a 2015 5th Round pick. via Arthur Staple

Thanks. Maybe he can turn into something. Can respond more tonight when not on this dumb phone but the 1st vanek trade officially backfired. But unfair to include moulson name when breaking down the overall trade since moulson was not coming back next year. And I move on stuck with what I am forced to live with.

While I'm sure its tough, I'm sure he knew he wasn't staying in Buffalo.

Lou press conference... yay.

Totally. Especially for someone like St. Louis too, who had to just rush to the airport and hope his family is taken care of.

Helm with headaches, out for at least a few days. Datsyuk shut down for 3 weeks. This could be the end of the playoff run right here.
