No they're announcing the roster at the end of this period
|
Wait the women's team? Ugh
|
Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
Phil Kessel's sister looks a lot less awkward than he does.

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
I need to find myself a hockey girl. They like hockey and the majority of them were cute as hell.
Excited for the mens team announcement. HAWKEY!! |
Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
Wow. Lots of surprises for that roster.
|
Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
Another shootout loss. It sucks even more for a game like this.
|
Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
No Bobby Ryan or Keith Yandle is kind of shocking.
|
No bobby Ryan or Keith yandle? The hell
|
Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
Go team USA! Going to pick up a Martin Shirtsy very soon
|
Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
though annoyed Okposo didn't make it, I am not surprised. He is not fleet of foot and the big ice I know was gonna be a knock vs. him. But he more points than Stepan and Callahan combined.
Was surprised to see GM Poile basically said he won't be a guy that is considered ever going forward. http://islanderspointblank.com/islan...t-for-big-ice/ |
Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
Who is the coach?
|
Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
Dan Byslma.
|
Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
no keith yandle boggles the mind.
|
Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
"I think we have to know what we're taking with Bobby," says Burke, who had him in Anaheim when the Ducks won the Stanley Cup in 2007.
"He's a passive guy," Burke says. And over 82 games, yes, Saad and or Pacioretty might be more attractive than Ryan. But Ryan's a game-breaker. "He is not intense. That word is not in his vocabulary," Burke says. "It's never going to be in his vocabulary. He can't spell intense." |
Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
No Scott Gomez surprised me. ;-)

how the team was picked, including why Yandle wasnt. But Burke remains skeptical about Yandle's place on the team. "I always assume a disaster's going to happen," he says. What happens if Paul Martin goes down on the first shift of the first game? "Who plays those minutes?" Burke asks. "If Keith Yandle goes in our top four, I think everyone we play is excited," Burke says. |
Saad was the last player cut after Oshie and Wheeler. Saad should be on the team over both of them.
|
Burke is an idiot
|
Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
I think Oshie and Wheeler are good choices. I haven't seen enough of Saad's defensive game to really know how he stacks up with the other guys, but the only way USA is going to win gold this year is if they shut down offensive teams like Canada and Russia.

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
Leaving off Byfuglien is more egregious than Yandle IMO. Huge mistake to leave him off. Dynamic offensively and has massively improved his defensive game. He is Winnipeg's best defenseman and it's not even close.
|
Byfuglien was barely considered towards the end.
|
@twolinepass: since 2008-09, only 11 players in the NHL have scored 160 goals or more. you'll never guess who's on that list. (it's bobby ryan)
@twolinepass: bobby ryan has 18 goals this season. callahan and brown had 14 combined. @twolinepass: since 09-10, only three defensemen have 200+ points. they are duncan keith (220 on an all-star team), erik karlsson (201), and KEITH YANDLE? @twolinepass: but brooks orpik was a lock from the outset. |
Burke said if he could go back he would take jack Johnson over bobby Ryan. How is that guy employed?
|
Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
Burke is a fucking moron. Ugh, the fact that his opinion is given so much importance in this process is ludicrous, when you consider how guys like Lombardi & Bowman have had so much success recently. In the end, seems like Burke got his guys. What has he done lately, again? Oh that's right.

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
Silver medal 4 years ago that's why. I don't like how he puts an NHL team together but he did well in 2010. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt until they screw up.

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
People don't like Brian Burke because he's so outspoken, but he knows how to put a team together with bold moves.
|
Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
you can grit your way to a win on NHL ice. There is too much space for that type of style on big ice.

I think the Ryan omission makes sense. I know he's offensively really talented, but all the reasons why they left him off makes sense. Yandle, however, I think is a huge mistake to leave off. I don't understand that at all. |
Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
Bobby Ryan can potentially score 40 goals this year and he got left off Team USA. that's awesome.
