You're kidding me, right?

they had their inevitable slide. They just did it early this season.

Cool trivia I saw on Twitter: Name the only two current teams Martin Brodeur has not shut out at least once.

Vancouver and the Kings.

I'm going to say it is somewhat of a trick question and say... The Jets (Because he prob. shut out Atlanta but not the Jets.) And of course.... The Devils.

I wish I was this optimistic to believe that counts as their slide. I am still waiting for Ed Snider to do something drastically stupid now that the team is playing well.

Easy Flyers fans, Rangers and Devils made the same turn arounds. All three teams are playing much better. Just makes the division look better than it did.

Leafs are getting out played night in and night out but always seeming to find a way to win. Stellar goaltending for them. Absolutely Stellar.

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

The answer was the Oilers and the Sharks, and I guess you can say the Devils as well :lol:lol

I'm equating this season to be like 2010.

Tough start, fire coach, regroup--get solid goaltending and go from there.

Steve Mason and Ray Emery have been gold mines. And the Downie, Schenn, Read line have been equally fantastic.

Didn't catch the game last night but it's always nice when the Hawks can beat Vancouver in their own building.

I'm starting to come around to Luongo, though. He doesn't deserve that trash fire of a team.

Bruins fans that like him are hard to come by, but his twitter is hilarious and I think I've been converted to a fan

Still hate those Nucks though

Bit of Monday morning dick measuring to start our week off right. Who do you think is a lock from your team to make the Olympics?

I think for the Avs it's:
Duchene (CAN)
Landeskog (SWE)
Stastny (USA)
Hejda (CZE)
Johnson (USA)
Varlamov (RUS) - if not in jail of course

HallowBillies7 11-25-2013 12:34 PM

Tuukka Rask and Bergeron are the definite locks for the Bruins IMO. Lucic trained hard to lose some weight and he's skating so much better, I wouldn't be shocked if he made it.

Alfie (has a shot because of who he is, but with his injuries this year I'd stay out)
Datsyuk
Zetterberg
Franzen
Kronwall

A lot of Swedes there. Outside shots are Ericsson for Sweden and Howard for the US. All the USA goalies have had up and down seasons.

For sure with Rask and Bergeron. Also, Chara is a lock for the Slovaks and Krejci for the Czechs. Looch will get some looks, but I don't think he gets in simply based on the depth of the Canadian pool. But I agree about his improvement this year.

EDIT: Depending on health, Eriksson will also be on Sweden's roster.

Totally. Remember during the offseason how we were talking about goaltending being the USA's strongest position. It was pretty much a lock at:

Quick
Anderson
Miller

But now the confidence isn't nearly as high. Miller's moved up to what I believe is the starting job unless Quick comes back from his injury with a vengeance, and I believe Howard has a very real chance to make the squad.

I'd also love to see Soderberg make it for Sweden too. His game is really starting to translate well in the NHL, and he was ridiculously good when playing overseas before coming over last year.

Rangers:

Cally (USA)
Nash (CAN)
Hank (SWE)

That's about it for a sure thing.

Staal maybe on D??

:thumbsup Girardi and Staal both with outside shot at making Canada.

McDonagh has a great shot at making USA. 99% sure he makes the team.

That would be nice, as he's had a good year and is maturing on schedule. Sweden's pretty deep defensively, so he'll have some work going up against the likes of Karlsson, OEL, Hedman, Kronwall, Hjalmarsson, Enstrom, etc. But he does have a shot.

Damn, just looking over Sweden's potential roster... they are going to be good again.

For the Flyers it looks like Giroux will be the only one on Canada, especially since his game has been better (and I wonder if Mason will be considered for goalie with how well he's playing :lol). Kimmo is a lock for Finland as always.

HallowBillies7 11-25-2013 01:19 PM

@HackswithHaggs: Pittsburgh Penguins coach Dan Bylsma indicated Bruins defenseman Torey Krug is on the Team USA Olympic radar. Scouted him live & on video

This would be awesome! I love watching Krug play

Mason :lol

Voracek has a pretty good shot for the Czechs.

I'm not even sure about Howie. Amazing we couldn't figure out which 3 of Quick, Miller, Anderson, Schneider and Howard would get the call earlier this summer.

Handzus is coming back tonight and playing WING on the SECOND LINE and Corey Crawford is making his 15th straight appearance tonight, against the Oilers. If Raanta can't get a start against the Oilers, will he ever?

Coach Q......I....just....ugh.

rustysurf83 11-25-2013 04:46 PM

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

Q definately makes some mind boggling decisions sometimes. I mean he is basically a coaching legend at this point, so I want to trust him, but shit...How long is Handzus going to stay on that line tonight? Like two shifts? Whats the point? And...this is as close to a perfect opportunity for Raanta to start and give CC the night off as you are ever going to get.
