Toews has 51 points, is a +16, and his Faceoff win percentage is 60.8%

Malkin has also played 7 less games.

Hell of a game in buffalo tonight. Scoreless with five minutes left.

Won't be long before Tavares is in discussion for best in the league. 22 points in 13 January games for player of the month honors. Only his line has been consistently scoring this year yet teams cannot shut down that line. He has been on a tear the last 2 months and it has been awesome to watch him grow. IF Wang (our owner) could only put some money into the team, the future would get a whole lot brighter.

I guess if Malkin would have played those 7 games his faceoff percentage would be 62%.

probably not, but his lead in points would be much greater.

which is still the only thing anyone has mentioned in terms of Malkin > Toews, and right now the difference is made up by all the other things Toews can do much better than Malkin

Toews easily leads the league in intangibles.

How happy would people be if Pierre Maguire got the Habs GM job? I know I'd jump up and down. Then NBC would be tolerable.

But how else will we know if a teams bench seems upbeat after they score a goal?

Or have Mike Babcock basically say leave me the hell alone?

Honestly I think Pierre is pretty knowledgeable and does a good job. Certainly he (and the entire NBC sports crew) occasionally become fixated on one star for much of the games they broadcast. But oh well, I think they are pretty good and usually pretty neutral.

I think NBC Sports still has JVR's balls in their mouth from the first round a half of the playoffs last year.

Pierre is very knowledgeable just I don't think he's good on tv. He (well anyone down on the ice) add very little to the game. Hockey is not a sport to need that kind of reporting like football or basketball.

I love how the NHL is acting all tough. "We're gonna ask tough questions!" And do what about it? Nothing. It's not gonna get the point back for CBJ or take one away from LA. You aren't gonna play OT on some random day in March. Watching the video I think the clock operator saw all the players stand still for a second and thought the play was dead. Not that that's an excuse but I think that's what happened.

Comparing him to announcers for other teams, he's probably one of the best. Listen to a Sharks broadcast lately? Or Blues? Painful. Or the obnoxious homerism of the Bruins.

And then you have most teams, whose announcers are just DULL.

Plus, an on-ice reporter is nice because there are a lot of things that Pierre picks up along the benches and right on the ice that you definitely can't get from where the play-by-play and color guys are.

I'll be the first to admit, the pens guys are the worst. I dont mind Pierre, he can be a little creepy when he is standing next to a guy talking about them, or when he displays his man-crushes on certain players, but he isnt bad at all.

I want to throw up when I'm forced to watch the Flyers at work on my computer and they play the Pens because 9x out of 10 it's the Pens feed.

Just absolutely awful and atrocious announcing.

And as far as Pierre, he's not as bad as people make him out to be. He's just one creepy looking SOB.

Flyers guys are pretty good. I don't believe I've ever once listened to a Pens broadcast. For some reason it seems like the Eastern Conference has much better announcers, though.

Pretty much all the tsn and cbc people are obnoxious, though, with the blatant favoring of Canadian teams. Not surprising, but kinda annoying for American viewers.

CBC is the same way. If it's a canadian team on playing any US team they are biased. You can tell they get real excited when the CAN team scores and sound down when the US team does. BUT most of those guys are the best. Chris Cuthbert is one of my faves.

Wings guys are a little bit homers but can be objective about somethings. They get pretty ticked when Holmstrom gets screwed over, which happens a lot. Pens guys are bad and I've only listened once but the Hawks radio guys were pretty obnoxious during game 5 against the Preds in 2010. Although don't mind the tv play by play guy.

That's the unfortunate thing. When you are subjected to him for extended periods of time, you are at risk of actually believing that his horribly slanted point of view is correct.

Bill Clement is a great color guy. Doc Emerick and Gary Thorne are my two favorite play-by-play. Jim Jackson is good too, but sometimes he can be a bit of a homer.
