Also, Dustin Brown's night was awesome. That final goal was sweet.

The velocity Phil can put on a wrist shot is insane... and it doesnt even look like it has that much whip the way Ovi's do.

It will be a fun one to watch! With the Avs losing to the Sharks last night, this game is do or die for both teams. Whoever wins is in.

Like I said before, I'm at peace with the Avs not making it this year, but that doesn't take away from how fun a game it will be to watch. I've almost forgotten what it feels like to cheer for a team in playoff contention!

He has strong wrists. All those Hot Dogs to mouth really built that muscle group needed to add a little more mustard to his wrister

I’d like to see an analysis of the physics behind his shot. So disgusting.

I am happy for him, a class act all around.

Amazing scene in Vancouver as the Sedins combine for the OT winner against Arizona in their final home game. Mugged by their teammates like they just scored the cup winning goal. Even more, all the Coyotes stayed on the ice and held an impromptu handshake line with just the twins. Very cool.

That could not have been scripted better by Hollywood. Gonna miss those guys.

They will get swept by the Preds but at least they made it. If they don’t (and what I’m saying is maybe they shouldn’t), it will still be a successful season for them and they will have learned important lessons, albeit the hard way.

STL is in Chicago tonight, if the Hawks can pull it off it would really elp your chances of getting in. I watched that whole game last night, your announcers are solid and entertaining. I think they must have replayed the Duncan Keith game winner about 5 times in the first ten minutes. I know Varly is out but the Sharks are a pretty solid offensive team and I thought Bernier played well.

I am no fan of the Ducks but Perry has matured and I have actually come to respect him as both a person and player.

Again, Chicago could do you guys a big favor by knocking off STL tonight, I do not believe it will eliminate them but CO would only need to get the game tomorrow to OT in order to clinch correct? If that happens I may have to go down to my hockey store and snag a MacKinnon T-shirt, that guys is just so much fun to watch play - it is odd too that I would even consider doing that - outside of Hawks stuff the only apparel I own from other teams is some Whalers stuff, an Erik Karlsson T-shirt and 2 Gretzky home Jersey's - LA and Edmonton. Internationjally I have one team USA Kane Jersey, a Sweden Nik Hjalmarsson one and a vintage CCCP one.

Lastly, I really hope Boston, Nashville and New Jersey get bounced in the first round! :)

Yeah, it is crazy how fast he can whip those wristers, not only the quickness amazes me but the accuracy he has is pretty crazy too. He is a fun player to watch and woe be it to any team that takes a penalty against the Pens when they can roll out a top PP unit of Crosby, Malkin, Kessel, Brassard (if healthy - if not roll out Guentzel or Hornquist) with Letang or Maata manning the blue line.

Avs have 93 points and Blues have 92. So if Chicago beats the Blues tonight and those point totals remain, the Avs still need to win on Saturday to get in. If they get it to OT and still come away with a point, tying it at 94, I believe the Blues get the tie-breaker as they will have more overall wins.

Where it would get weird is if StL beats the Hawks tonight (outside of a shootout) and then their game against the Avs goes to OT. If so, even if they lose in a shootout they will still be tied in points at 95 and will own the tie-breaker because of their ROW (wins minus shootout wins). The Avs could win that final game in a shootout and still not make the playoffs.

So yes, the Hawks COULD do us a favor by ensuring a crazy situation like that doesn't happen.

The Avs have two advantages: They have a day off before the game, while StL will be playing their second game in two nights; and also the Avs will be at home, where they have been good all season long.

The Avs have great announcers. A little cheesy at times, but when it comes to being unbiased, giving credit where credit is due to the other team, and taking time to educate potential new fans, I really love them.

From what I saw, Bernier did look better than he has in the previous few games. Hopefully that is a trend and that his poor play was a result of him just not having played for so long before this stretch.

They are my roommates season tickets. (She’s in the front with her mom). Nicole’s seats (his wife) are actually at the top of our section. Sometimes she gets a suite if a lot of people are going to a game and we will hang up there.

And by a lot of people I mean her and her kids because that’s basically an army.

It's so cool to think last season we were saying Dustin was a "lock" to be on the Knights. Now he's scoring 4 goals in a game... as a King. Very cool.

Not all that different than Eddie Olczyk and Pat Foley doing the Hawks games and occasionally having Doc Emrick in the booth with them. They can be goofy but the know the game and give credit where it is due whether it is a Hawk or some opponent.

Spare me from the Devils and Islanders announcers please, they are such homers they cannot even pronounce an opponents name - last season the one moron for NJ actually said the Hawks would be starting out with the "Jonathon Toe's line" - good lord that was awful, it is not like it was some random call up with a Russian name, this was a guy who has won 3 cups, a Selke, a Conn Smyth, Olympic Gold and even finished second in the Calder race - to Kane no less.

Now I will be a homer, I hope DeBrincat nets another hat trick tonight and surpasses Boesser for the lead in goals by a rookie.

No Toews tonight unfortunately Matty but on the plus side jurco is sick and will likely not play so the Hawks will be dressing 7 D men.

Just saw this was the first time in Crosby’s career that he played in all of the regular season games. That’s crazy.

Re: The NHL Thread (Golden Knights are alright)

Sorry Matty, pretty pathetic effort by the Hawks tonight. Not sure if you watched but the whole complexion of the game when the Blues scored first, on a goal that should never have counted due to a blatant crosscheck that a damn high school ref would have seen.

fonzz41 04-07-2018 12:32 AM

The NHL Thread (Golden Knights are alright)

Avs/Blues could go a couple different crazy ways tomorrow. Ain’t quite as simple as it may seem. If I’m doing my math right:

Regulation win for either team: that team makes the playoffs, other is eliminated

OT, Blues win: they have 2 more points, would advance

OT, Avs win: teams would be tied in points and ROW. Next tiebreaker is total goals in the season series between the 2 clubs, which the Blues has, meaning Blues advance even though the Avs win.

Shootout: Blues advance no matter who wins as point totals will be tied, but Blues will have one more ROW.

So basically, the Avs HAVE to win in regulation tomorrow.

I wonder... if the Avs/Blues are tied in the 3rd tomorrow with time winding down, do the Avs just pull their goalie to try and get the go ahead goal? No use in playing for OT at that point. Kinda have to go all in.

Should be fun!
