The Oilers just finished inarguably their best 3 game stretch of the season. Smashed the Habs, lost to the Leafs 1-0 (and by all accounts should have won that game), and smashed the BJ's. While I'm not convinced of anything major just yet it is nice to see them put 3 really great games together, all on the road. Just hoping they don't follow it up with a stinker tomorrow night at home (which has been the trend this year).

Getting both Talbot and Sekera back (hopefully soon) will be a big boost.

Woah. Not sure how I feel about this. I think the puck was always in 'forward motion', however in the spirit of the rule I am leaning towards no-goal.

Are the Flyers feeling okay? Where did this winning streak come from?

Wow, that is a name I have not heard in years - may he rest in peace. As if the Pens constantly beating Hartford on the ice did not sting enough they traded Zalapsky and Cullen to the Whalers in return for Ron Francis and Ulf Samuelson in one of the more lopsided trades I can recall.

Wow, never read about him before. Pretty odd and disturbing story.

According to the rule it likely should have been ruled a bad goal but IMO that rule is idiotic.

It's fuzzy, but the rule is "continuous motion". Basically, if the PLAYER is moving forward with the puck, it counts as continuous motion. Where it gets fuzzy with the Gaudreau goal is it could be argued he was no longer moving forward and was going kind of laterally. It's tricky to regulate that too much down close to the net when players are trying to make moves. My guess is that since he didn't stop completely, the ref allowed it.

Probably from yelling at each other in the locker room behind closed doors.

I hate when rules get fuzzy like this, but the way you explained it makes sense and I can see the ref following that logic.

Yeah I always thought it was the player had to be moving forward and the puck just couldn't stop.

yeah definitely room for optimism if they can keep playing like that.

There is never a good time to give up a shorty, but when it's halfway through the 3rd period of a 1-1 game. ooooooffff

Nice to see the Caps have been doing so well even without Oshie in the lineup. Dare I say, the Caps might actually be good.

Good to see them dominate on the road as well

Also good to see the Penns and that team from Philly on the outside looking in

In say 30-40 years (assuming we are all still alive) which ACTIVE player do you think you will be telling younger people about how much fun they were to watch. All due respect to guys like Crosby, McDavid, Karlsson, Ovie or Kane I think I would have to go with Jagr - dude is just a freak and amazing player. Sure some of us are old enough to have seen Gretzky, Yzerman or Lemieux in their prime (and will surely talk about them) but I have to limit it to active players.

Definitely Jags. Was actually talking about this with my sister last night. I have Christmas ornaments of 5 what I’d call “classic” NHL’ers. Lemieux, jagr, Wayne, Gordie Howe and I think Bobby Orr is the last one. I can’t believe Jags was a rookie before I was even born, and the dude is still playing. He’s insane. Obviously Wayne was fun, Lemieux is one of the best comeback stories in sports history, and the current guys are so supremely talented... But there’s nobody who doesn’t outright love Jaromir Jagr.
