we've given up 5 PP's and a SH goal.
no team wins games with numbers like that

Re: The NHL Thread

I actually turned the game off after the second period. I have an exam that is more important to focus on. That said, if Hank is out for the rest of the series the Rangers are done. Looks like we may just be stopping by the playoffs for a short visit after all.

In all reality though, did anyone else watch that game and think "man, neither of these teams is going to win the cup."

Really, I thought both teams looked pretty lousy compared to other teams in the NHL.

I also find it interesting that for two people that root for the same team, we view games very differently.

Penguins are literally firing on all cylinders.
They're beating us +3 with a 3rd string goalie and no Malkin

Both teams started out a bit slow. I'm not going to make big sweeping judgments about either of them. The Rags looked good for a lot of this game. I think it'll still be a tough series. Though if Hank's eye is royally fucked up...

I mean, it's the first game of the first round of the playoffs. They usually end up being a little sloppy.

No offense to us, but we are a pretty weak opponent compared to team the Penguins will have to beat to win the cup. That was my point. I like a few teams in the east over the Pens, but I really like most of the west over them. I was disappointed in the playoff hockey in the first two periods.

Fair enough. I guess it is easy to be impatient when you have waited a year for high quality hockey.

:lol I know. Just remember the great games usually start around game 3. Game 1 is usually sloppy for everyone. Adrenaline is pumping, butterflies, etc. as well as both teams feeling each other out a lot. So much gamesmanship going on in game 1.

:thumbsup The Rags were out shooting the Pens most of the game, had good pressure, hit a goal post. But unfortunately for them, the mistakes they did make were very costly and the Pens capitalized on every one. And Zatkoff stood very tall.

Looking forward to Saturday!

Yup!

Anyway, if Hank is back, we are winning game 2! If not, Pens in 3.

Playoff OT is so amazing when your team isn't in it.
