Re: The NHL Thread
So much for many in here thinking there would no push back from the Caps. They controlled the play for most of the game. In the first period, we blocked 15 shots and the Caps none, which tells you how much we were in our zone. Caps could have had many more goals. Certainly a different defensive team than we saw on Wednesday. We didn't seem to miss Hamonic Wednesday but he was sorely missed yesterday. He would have helped a lot last night.
Even so, we had our chances to win. With Grubauer not exactly looking sharp on our chances, we should have put more pressure on. and test him more. We just didn't skate much, which is our game. I also think we set a record for broken sticks. What a joke sticks have become. IT also didn't help we let Backstrom walk right in for the tying goal. Do you think the Isles were expecting a pass right there, lol. It looks like it will be a long series. The old barn will be rocking on Sunday. That's for sure. |

10 more hours until McDavid is ours!

Re: The NHL Thread
Q sounded like Craw for game 3 from his post game comments. FYI my phone tried to make Craw into Crap.

I'd rather see Crawford than Darling at this point. Preds seem to have Crawford figured out.

Re: The NHL Thread
Weber not traveling to Chicago. That's a game changer.

Re: The NHL Thread
Darling to start game 3.

Re: The NHL Thread
I think the Wings are still playing shorthanded. Seems like it anyways.
|
Re: The NHL Thread
Thankfully it's settled down. Wings seem to be playing better. Nyquist, Tatar and Hank need to step up.
|
Re: The NHL Thread
So I'm sure I could look this up, but I'd rather let one of y'all have a moment in the sun. If you win the draft lottery do you pick 1st now? No more only moving up 3 spots? Is that right?

Re: The NHL Thread
Datsyuk falling down when he could have had a scoring chance sums up the last month of the season. Playing better than last game so have to give them that but now down 2-0.

Yikes! Detroit melting. Sorry, Tim!

Re: The NHL Thread
Non-playoff talk real quick, since the McDavid sweepstakes are a couple hours away...
If Buffalo gets it, they honestly could be a Stanley Cup contender in 2 years. I don't like building too much hype around one prospect, as it can be dangerous for the kid and a little unfair to put that kind of pressure on him...but the Sabres have 3 1st round picks. If they land McDavid PLUS two more first rounders, they can take a gamble on a high risk/high ceiling type player and a safe bet on a defensemen that they so desperately need. Their system is really, really good too. The future already looks pretty good in Buffalo with Jake McCabe, Sam Reinhart and then add the addition of McDavid + 2 more first rounders?! Buffalo could be the next Chicago. The next scariest teams to get McDavid would be Dallas and Columbus. Both are already good NHL teams that probably would be playoff teams if it weren't for injuries, and they both have pretty good farm systems. Add a prospect like McDavid? Holy hell, watch out. Could you imagine Jamie Benn, Tyler Seguin and McDavid? Not to mention we'll see Julius Honka and Jack Campbell soon in Dallas, too, I'm sure. Obviously if LA or Boston wins the McDavid sweepstakes, that's just not fair. |
Re: The NHL Thread
Also, the Oil (if they don't fuck it up) have a TON of draft picks as well. Just a thought.

Re: The NHL Thread
I think this is the end for Babcock. I think he didn't sign before the year thinking the the wasn't any good and now the way it seems to be ending wonder if he's thinking where is the exit. Hope I'm wrong but the last few weeks just have felt like it's the end.

Re: The NHL Thread
Babcock and McDavid would look great in orange and black :thumbsup
