4-1 Panthers over TBL. Wings could be within 1 and have 3 games in hand.

Cole to the Wings. Guessing Helm is out a while. Still think they look for D tomorrow. Petry or Zidlicky would be my guesses.

Damn just heard. I kinda wanted Cole. I like him. Wonder how much truth there is to this Eberle rumor

Re: The NHL Thread

Wings give up 2 prospects, apparently one who didn't want to be here and another whose stock had dropped, along with a 2nd for Cole and a third. I'm ok with this. Adds depth and size.

Watching the TSN guys on NHL Network and they were talking that the Wings were kicking tires on Dion. That scares me...a lot.

Are the Rangers planning on trading every single pick they have?

Obviously not gospel but I've seen a few Oilers insiders say Eberle isn't going anywhere. Personally, he's the last player I'd want traded. He's been their most consistent all-around player the past few years.

You could have Yakupov though.....

I love Yandle, Hank, Nash, McDonagh, Brassard, Moore, and Stepan. I still think they're about one or two pieces short, but holy hell.

I really want to see Hank hoist the Cup one time. This picture last year really made me feel for the guy:

I'm all in on the Rangers if the Hawks can't win it.

I like their team more than last year's. we'll see what happens though

Yeah, no thanks. I've seen some stuff saying Eberle isn't going anywhere and I've seen other stuff saying the Oil are entertaining offers from the Caps, Habs and Bruins. That's the problem with the Twitter age, information overload. If I'm Edmonton I don't trade him either, although I think the Caps could build a pretty enticing package. They've got a real good goalie prospect I'm sure the Oilers could use.

Anyway, as for stuff actually happening on the ice, Caps finally got back to looking like themselves tonight. I guess a game against the Leafs will do that :lol

Old Stevie Y burning the midnight oil. Landing Coburn and trading Connolly to the Bruins.

Great return for Coburn. Hope they unload one more D man today. And of course Vinny. But that seems doubtful.

Flyers have a ton of top 90 picks this draft. I wonder if they package one or two with a prospect to get rid of Vinny.

Seriously? And THEN you still need to get it by the best goaltender in the world?

Christ.

Gonna go off my experience. Wings in 2004 had Lidstrom, Chelios, Schneider, Hatcher, Fischer, Dandenault and Wooley as their to 7 and Cujo in net. Lost in round 2. We'll see.

I think I've said it before, but I am very happy and was very lucky to see the Wings win when they did. From 98-04 they traded away a lot of picks but had no cap to work with, so could add through free agency during that time and let the late picks (Dats and Hank and so on) to develop. That mentality carried through after the lost season too. Now here we are almost 20 years after the first Cup and they are still there with none of those players and more young guys coming up. The Rangers could be in a lot of trouble in a few years because the cap will hinder them.

Pissed I have to listen/watch Sportsnet on NHL.com. So weird, we get TSN on the NHL Network last night but get Sportsnet today.

About today, with Tampa getting better now on D, I think the Wings push to get a D man now to help out. It'll be interesting.

Dreger and Bob mentioned it last night. I agree with what some guys on TSN said though, the right situation, he'd be ok. He's not a first pairing guy, he's a 2nd pairing guy now. Huge salary retention has to be the other way. Like 2mil off the cap hit to make me even think about it. People keep throwing out Weiss and Kindl. I don't trade Weiss now, I do it in the offseason. You want him there for depth. But even if you do that deal, Kindl is up in 2 years and Weiss in 3. While the salary matches up for the next 2-3 years, Mr Elisha Cuthbert has 6 left. No way I do that.

Looking forward to watching the Wing collapse under the weight of their age in the post season. Overachieved this season big time.

I love that we are going for it! Yes it could blow up on us, but we have a good team now! Why wait!

K, that's not random at all. Rangers average age is higher than the Wings but...ok.

It is early, just felt like I needed to respond to your post on the last page rooting for it to blow up in NYR face :lol.

Nothing will make me root against a team more than their fans rooting against my team for no reason :grimey

Shit they were saying that in 1999. Wings could lose in round one (currently expect them to) but it won't be because of their age, it'll be because Tampa is dangerous and TBL is older. Wings leading goal scorers are 25 and 24 and their goalie is 30.

Lol the Rangers are going to choke. They don't have a 1st rounder until 2018.

If history has taught us anything, it's that the Detroit Red Wings will find some crazy 7th round pick in their system to call up and save their god damn season if all hope looks lost. They'll always be competitive.

Eh, just more because the media makes it such a hype about it. nothing against the team. "OMG best team ever!"...and then they lose. As a Detroit sports fan I remember hearing how bad the Lakers were gonna smoke the Pistons in 04 and the Pistons should have swept them.
