You had a melt down with Steckel's "dirty" hit. I'd love to see your reaction if someone did this to Ms. Cindy

Hardly. Beat them twice, and handily, on the way to a Stanley Cup final appearance and victory. They have the Pens' number this year. If Bryz keeps letting in 4-5 per game, Philly will crumble against a team with a defense.

4-2 after this year against the Pens in the playoffs. Not to mention the Flyers fans actually stick with their team

Not dumb. A concussion probably changed his personality. Not his fault...

Yotes announcers didn't just call the hit clean. "That is as clean of a hit as you are going to get"

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

The Wings game completely boiled down to goaltending: Rinne is a fucking beast and Howard was pretty damn weak (ex. 2nd goal. WTF was he doing that far out of the net?).

The Wings dominated offensively for the vast majority of the game, but they just cannot figure out how to put the puck in the back of the net. Sure, they had an unbelievable amount of bad luck tonight. But they had countless chances to score and just could not capitalize.

At this point the only question is do the Wings lose in 5 or 6.

Didn't know a cab driver on the ice.

Tyson Nash is as irrelevant to broadcasting and analysis as he was to the game when he was a player. He's a nobody.

Pretty sure Toews got the penalty, not Kane.

How can a goalie act like a tough guy after lying on the ground for 5 minutes after a little hit from Shaw? #letsgohawks

Who knows what to expect from Shanahan in all honesty. Torres could get nothing and I wouldn't be surprised at this point.

Hopefully the Hawks end this game early in the 3rd so we can get some extracurricular activities.

Just so we're clear. You're mad that your guy is hurt, so you want one of their guys hurt?

Whatever happens with Torres happens. Right now, I'm just hoping Hossa is ok.

Someone at least needs to lay a body on Torres, suspension just won't do it justice.

Bullshit call on Toews for giving OEL a little facewash after he hit Toews after the buzzer. Fucking pathetic.

Don't take it the wrong way in terms of how I think of Nashville's performance in any of these instances. They played well then, and they were the ones who got lucky and scored.

This happens pretty much every year with the Wings - they outplay their opponent for most of the game, but can't get anything in, and it's the other team who once they get some shots on net, they're the ones who always end up with the lucky bounces.

And now refreshing my memory, I'll take back my words about the first goal being fluky (the one that actually counted) - that was a great, clean goal. The other three, including the one that was wrongfully not counted, were two lucky bounces and appallingly sloppy play by the Red Wings. I don't discount Nashville at all in any of these instances; it's just that as someone who has been a Wings fan for 15 years, I'm so sick of the lucky bounces always going to the other team when we otherwise dominated.

I guess 4 Cups since 97 compensates for that, but still. It's frustrating as hell.

Didn't see Wings game tonight, but thought they had the better of the play on Sunday. Certainly helps that Nashville has Rinne.

Seems to be the obvious choice to replace Hossa, although I wouldn't be surprised to see Morin either. It's certainly not Hayes that is going to replace him.

Exactly one year ago tonight, Raffi Torres tried to end Brent Seabrook's career with a head-shot behind the net.

I'll be very interested to see the Shanny video on Torres. There is a hit on the boards before the puck goes to Hossa where the guy leaves his feet, than is apparently no big deal. Don't think Torres leaves his feet either. Definitely drives into the hit, but his feet come off the ice as he's recovering from contact. JMO. I'm sure I'll be called an idiot.

The Wings have pretty much sucked since early March this year, so a first round loss isn't too surprising. It does seem like there are an insane number of lucky bounces in the favor of the Predators, but the Wings got a couple of gifts tonight and still couldn't capitalize (1st Preds goal ruled no good).

I agree though, It's getting old as shit seeing the Wings make an early exit in the playoffs.

I didn't take it the wrong way..no worries. I just thought that two of them were just good goals and not so much fluky. I agree though that Detroit flat out outplayed us tonight and we're lucky that we've got a mean goalie in the net and in some cases luck was on our side. And yeah 4 cups does compensate for it so shutup:lol:lol

Obviously I'm kidding.

So apparently Neal's suspension was based solely on the Giroux hit and not the hit on Courturie, hence 1 game. Good work, BS!

AlpineValley804 04-17-2012 11:10 PM

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

To Hoke:

Agreed, they looked absolutely terrible at the end of the regular season and I wasn't all that amped about the playoffs thinking they'd exit early. And now that they actually decide to play hockey, it makes losing hard again. Losing both games at home is inexcusable. And I agree, they really failed to capitalize when they had so many golden opportunities.

I want to erase that game from my memory. I feel like I could just run down the street with a blood curdling yell to blow off some steam.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

The most frustrating thing is that the team, while older than most, is built to make a great playoff run. But with the injuries they have dealt with and some key players not performing like they should, it always ends up that we get our asses beat.

This year was THE year for the Wings to win the cup again. After that insane home winning streak I would've put money on the Wings winning it all. Then all of a sudden 1/2 of the team is hurt and we can't find a way to score to save our lives. So disappointing.
