Erik, that's what I love about it. I love the interactions between all the other fans of the other teams that you're not playing at the moment. I was trying to explain to my girlfriend the electricity in the games this time of year. The screams from the full arena when the home team hits someone on the other team, when a goal is scored, etc. It's unmatched, IMO. Plus, the pure excitement surrounding each game. IE, the hawks game tonight. They scored and forced OT with what, 13 seconds left from what I saw? UNREAL.

So many :thumbsup's. I'm firmly in the camp that nothing in sports compares with the release of crowd energy when the home team scores at any hockey game, and the playoffs only ratchet it up more. And tonight, though it was while my team was losing (actually right before the Sharks tied it in the third) the Blues fans were just going nuts, backing their team. Of course they all got real quiet when Desjardins scored the tying goal. :D

The Hawks continue to have the same problems they have had all year. I would be a fool to say they will change now. I will gladly eat my words.

Hawks just got beat. Phoenix was the better team. Yotes enforced their will on the Hawks in overtime. Trainwreck in the d zone continues, as it has been all season. Just gotta control the pace of the game better on Saturday.

This is just so wrong. The momentum had already turned in Phoenix's favor before that. Refs make mistakes. Deal with it. Hawks were just plain beaten in OT.

Also, Bickell & Bolland need to match Shaw's intensity in Game 2.

You realize the entire game changed on that call...and that PHX had a sub .300 winning percentage when they do not score first and this missed call put them back in the game?

Caps played a very physical game and showed they can match up with the Bruins today. In Ovi's only great scoring attempt of the day TT made a great save. 9 times out of 10 Ovi scores on that attempt....and Kelly's shot was placed perfectly...that shot most of the time either goes wide or hits the post....Hendy and MoJo played awesome games. Caps take game 2 and I feel very good about this series

Man Holtby gave the Caps every chance to win that game. Plus the Caps at one point were outshooting the Bruins in the 3rd 8-1. Hope that doesn't hurt his confidence.

Wasn't able to stay awake for the other games so watching highlights now. No surprised with the winners though. Gotta love extra time. So who did Sharks use in the shootout? Oh wait that stupid shit doesn't go on this time of year.

Surprised Babcock wasn't fined for his comments about the refs. Maybe they figured since they were gonna take nothing from Shea Weber that if they fined Babcock more it would look really bad.

With the way the Bruins dominated that game outside of about a 10 minute stretch in the 3rd I'm pretty confident the series won't go more than 5 or 6 games. Chara and Seidenberg will wear out Ovechkin.

Kelly's shot was solid but that's a shot that Holtby has to have.

I think that game left the Caps scratching their heads. Their players do much better in open ice and while Ovechkin likes to play physical its just hard to compete against the Bruins when they play the way they played last night.

Ovechikin had only 2 shots and 7 hits wouldn't surprise me if you see those numbers flipped Saturday.

According to Holtby it was "not a good goal"

Yea it wasn't. He was out of position and its inexcusable for a goalie to get beat on a shot that far out with no traffic in OT.

Bolland was not that good last night, IMO. I thought Shaw created a lot more on that line. It's ok to admit when guys have off nights. Guess that's something the Hawks fluffers can't do. Instead it's the refs' fault. Hawks got outplayed, end of story.

Hossa and Sharp looked like garbage last night as well. Hopefully they bounce back and the Hawks can take game 2.

Yeah, 2nd line had been dominating but look out of sorts last night. The loaded up 1st line was the best but Hossa was a little.... :confused

Phoenix is a solid, disciplined hockey team. They will beat you if you don't stay focused and play smart. Just have to do more of that in game 2.

OK....WHAT? Just...no. There were lots of problems last night, Bolland's "intensity" was no where near the top 1,000,000 problems.

Hossa and Kane looked awful. That 88-19-81 experiment needs to die. It just didn't work. Lines should be:

10-19-25
15-88-81
65-36-29
67-16-22

Olsen should have been in, not O'Donnell. Old slow guys that can't keep up in the regular season look even worse in the playoffs. Get OD out of there. Hammer looked more comfortable with Olsen all season anyway, really don't understand the demotion to him. Sure, OD was a serviceable 7th defenseman, but he has no place in the playoffs now. None.

PUT STALBERG ON THE FUCKING POWER PLAY. That second unit looked absolutely atrocious. I don't get it.

Brayden Holtby went from starting in the AHL Outdoor Classic to starting in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Wow.
