Pens stressing me out. Phil needed that goal. He was super frustrated.

I feel a lot better after that win. Phil seemed more relieved than anything to get that goal. I admire Ottawa's commitment to defense, but with 1 shot in about minutes in a 0-0 game, well scoring goals is also part of the game. And Fleury's having a Conn Smythe worthy playoffs thus far. Still, I haven't seen the Pens' offense this frustrated in a long time.

And stop it with the injuries! They are down their top 3 D-men!

Pens absolutely dominated 2nd and 3rd. Just keep playing the same way.

Sens didn't even try to generate shots, went nearly 20 minutes without one. Only had 3 in the 3rd.

Really impressed with Kunitz and Rubwedel's play on both ends tonight. Pens forecheck was relentless.

Pens won a 1-0 game. With all the offense they have and all the injuries. What a world we live in.

A win's a win's a win. More than halfway there now. Agreed about Kunitz and Ruwhedel (sp?). Very impressed by their efforts tonight.

This Pens/Sens series is going to get absolutely intense going forward. It showed all game last night.

And man, I watch Kessel and it reminds me how much I miss having a player like that on the Flyers. Hartnell was that energy/leader guy and he was a big part of their success.

Let's not be silly. It's gonna be way longer than a year.

Steve Mears is leaving NHL network to join Penguins as color broadcaster, and Paul Steigerwald is stepping down to go back into marketing for the Pens.

This is great news.

Cant stand Steiggy on the broadcast. Big fan of Mearsy.

Yeah I wish he was still there. But hes gotta be considering retirement soon.

I love that Benstonium syncs his goal calls to video after each game.

:thumbsup

One of the drawbacks of HD/Satellite/Streaming is the delay between TV and radio.

Real yinzers back in the day put the tv on mute and turned up the radio. :lol

I knew I never liked Steve Mears

Re: The NHL Thread (where the Presidents Trophy matters!)

so they're getting an entire new broadcast team then? that would be good because errey is awful

Re: The NHL Thread (where the Presidents Trophy matters!)

Mears is doing pbp. Errey still on commentary.

Erry can have his moments but I dont dislike him, he adds quality hockey info when his bias isnt showing. I think he will be better with Mears.

Speaking of broadcasters.... I have really missed Doc over the course of the last two games.

If you were a Flyers fan you would be in the group of fans who hate Claude Giroux. Not saying that's a bad thing, but Philly has a pocket of fans highly critical of their captain too.

:confused Doc did game 1?

EDIT: this could be wrong, was looking at a forward-looking press release dated friday---maybe he had some kind of emergency or health thing?

Unless those couple beers I had Saturday night had something a little extra...

I didn't think Doc did Pens-Sens game 1.
