Man, there really was only one Roi... just appreciating the end of Bartender at the Folsom show. Perfection.

Re: R.I.P. Leroi Moore.

I've never posted in this thread before, it never felt right. I only had the opportunity to see him play once, which is both good and bad. Good, obviously, that I at least got to see him before he passed, and bad obviously because I only got to see him once. I was supposed to see DMB at Staple Center the night he died, but my ride couldn't make it because of some family thing. I'm almost glad I couldn't go, because no matter how much of a wreck I was at my house (which was BAD), I would have been 100 times worse being there. I cried like a baby the whole night, listening to songs he shined on until 5 am, when I was so exhausted I just passed out on my couch. I woke up hoping the whole thing had been a bad dream, but I knew it wasn't. It's amazing how much of an impact someone can make on your life when you've never met them.

Anyway, I noticed that I had never paid my respects in here (not that it matters much), and decided now was as good of a time as any.

Listening to Sugar Will from the Stand Up Companion Disc. One of my favorite recordings from this band ever, Roi shines on it so much...takes it to a whole other level.

Thinking of Leroi today, he played his last show on the 28th, figured I'd give Live Trax 14 a spin. The heart and soul in Leroi's playing is sadly missed. RIP.

Just listened to LT30. Roi, you own that whole three-night stand. You just own it. Miss you.

Anyone got anything in particular they're going to listen to tomorrow? I'm leaning between the 08.19.08 show and the LT 06/28/08 show.

Good reminder :thumbsup :leroi

Will put on LT14 in his honor. Especially for that final Ants with Roi. I think it would be really beautiful for the band's final show (assuming they plan it as such, and don't quit randomly before hand), during those last few bars of the Ants horn solo, they show LeRoi on the big screen behind Carter.

It feels like he just needs to be there for that moment in some way.

bowa36 08-18-2014 05:57 PM

I think I'll make a "best of Roi" compilation and listen to it all day tomorrow

Can't believe it's been 6 years... Still brings a tear to my eye during certain performances. What an extraordinary individual. :leroi

6. Why I Am (LT28)
7. The Dreaming Tree (LT14)
8. Grace is Gone (LT26)
9. Jimi Thing (LT4... Roi TEARS this one up!)
10. Good Good Time (7/10/04)
11. Lover Lay Down (10/29/98)
12. Bartender (8/19/08)
13. Stay or Leave (Vivo Rio)
14. Blue Water > Drunken Soldier (WH10v2)

Changed my mind. Listening to the last show I've seen with him. 6.14.08. Crazy that it's been 6 years.

Re: R.I.P. Leroi Moore.

Still to this day my favorite member of the group, they have not been the same since. When I say that I mean no disrespect to Jeff, to me Roi made the group at least for me. I always looked forward to 41, stone, grey street and watchtower to name a few because of the solos that were coming in those songs. My first show was 12-17-00 and from the first note he played on seek up I was hooked.

Anybody got a link to Bartender from the Staples Center that night?

Listening to 8/19/08 right now. I tear up every time Dave gives the announcement after the most powerful Bartender this band has ever delivered. I miss you still, Roi. We love you. RIP.
