Re: The NHL Thread
Was that a challenge or just an automatic review? That's like reviewing a touchdown and calling it back because the ref missed a holding call. Why is that a thing?

Re: The NHL Thread
Nice fucking job. Huge two wins

Good to see Shaw cooled down in those two minutes. :lol |
Re: The NHL Thread
Not completely convinced that the Blues don't blow this.
I hope I got that right. The Blues are going to blow this--that's what I'm saying. |

Honestly though, if any series could go from up 3-1 to losing 4-3 it's Blues/Hawks. The Hawks have made this comeback before. |
Re: The NHL Thread
This is not the same Blues team as the last several years. Two come from behind wins in Chicago. Just awesome.
Night all. |

I think if the Blues don't close the deal in game five they'll probably end up losing

Technically, I won't get in until 12:00. Coming in on Amtrak so I can drink and watch the game as opposed to driving. Go 'Hawks!! |

Re: The NHL Thread
Stars need to be stars in the playoffs. That simple. Through four games, no goals between 19, 88, 81, and 16. Only one fluke goal for 72 that really should be Duncan Keith's goal.
If you take away Keith and Seabrook (I'm counting Panarin's as Keith's goal because I'm convinced Panarin didn't touch it), the Hawks have 3 goals through 4 games. That's just not going to cut it. Plain and simple. I don't care what possession numbers you look at, shots on net, scoring chances, etc. If your star forwards can't put the puck in the net, you're not going to win a series in the playoffs, especially against a team as tight and tough as this Blues team. Honestly, I'd rather they lose on Thursday. I have a feeling a win on Thursday only drags out the inevitable. I have enough going on that I'd actually be ok with not having a rooting interest and just enjoying the playoffs on their own. Added bonus I get the $200 back for my game 6 ticket and can use that on DMB tickets in Dallas. But at the same time...Fuck the Blues. I want to see those piece of shits go home with nothing. Go home sad. Fuck you and your stupid city that has nothing but an upside-down U in the ground and a shitty macro-brew. |

Honestly, I love Shaw sometimes, but I wouldn't be sad to see him go. He does shit like that penalty ALL THE TIME. 2 minutes left in a playoff game and you're down a goal with all the momentum, and you do that? Come on. Literally killed any chance of a comeback. He takes the WORST penalties I've ever seen. You can find a pest stand in front of the net that plays the game smarter than him for less money. |

Also, you're bang on with stars needing to score. A balanced team effort is needed for a Stanley Cup win. But a "balanced" team does not mean everyone is scoring. It means everyone is doing what they're paid to do. Defensemen are defending, checkers are checking, and goal scorers are scoring goals. It's why they play the most and get paid the most. On that note Keith has looked amazing, and Seabrook had a good game tonight. Confession: I came all over when he broke up that 2 on 1 in the 3rd. |
Re: The NHL Thread
pretty sure Shaw or Kruger will be gone in the off-season because of the Bread Man's bonuses.

Keith has been unbelievable in every zone. This would have been a sweep without him. Hossa is looking every bit his age, Ladd hasn't clicked like everyone hoped he would, and those two things together have handicapped Toews to essentially a checking line. Only offensive chances they're generating are quick shots that are easily soaked up by Elliot. The Blues are just shutting down the Kane line and daring the Hawks to beat them some other way, and so far they just can't do it. I don't buy the tired excuse a lot of Chicago beat writers are spinning. They're just losing. Quote:

Ugh...Anaheim, Pittsburgh and St. Louis won today?! I need to go to bed and just start a new day tomorrow.

Re: The NHL Thread
Shaw's gay slur is blowing up enough on Twitter that I see a suspension coming.

Re: The NHL Thread
I'm not going to get into a vocabulary debate with you. The use of the word that Shaw used tonight was inexcusable and he's rightfully going to pay for it.
