Certainly not a bad take at all. Officials letting them play sometimes takes away from the games. It impacts the opportunity for a game-changing play, which takes away from the sport.

Playoff officiating has basically gotten to “let’s let the teams murder each other until either the score or scrums get so out of hand that we have to start calling shit to keep the game interesting from a competitive standpoint and/or so someone doesn’t die on the ice”.

It may not necessarily affect who’s going to win or lose, but it turns a beautiful game into a hack fest/circus where the focus is always on the officiating and not the skill/plays on the ice.

I too hate when they let the players decide the game. Plus OT penalties are terrifying.

Exactly, wrt OT.. So call them. Incentive for the players to play by the rules and makes prevent the 3ot snoozefests that end in a shitty deflection instead of a skilled play
And I bet there would be fewer OTs if crappier teams couldn’t clutch and grab theirway to a 1-1 tie.

(obviously generalizing a lot here, there are some very defensively strong teams that isn’t referring to.)

I knew it was going to be an ugly game but that was much more than I imagined. I think it’s going to be a much more even series here on out if Vegas can find their legs.

As an Avs fan that was glorious but I’d have to assume you’re right. Was sitting Fleury worth it?

I think so. I’m sure their mindset was he needed the rest (especially at his age) and with going to 7 games and little rest they were the underdog from the beginning. Rest your star goalie game 1 so he’s good to go next game.

So that went poorly. Still have hope for the series, but not getting home ice was killer. I think whoever wins this series wins the whole thing.

Very impressive game by the Habs, impressing series as well keeping Matthews and Marner to one combined goal in 7 games. Happy for them and most of all Price, damn did he play well tonight. If they could hang with Toronto and end up winning this series against the Jets should be far more entertaining then the odds would suggest.
