I'm an outsider because I don't care about hockey that much and I'm no pittsburgh fan as a transplant but the way the team has been made over is impressive. from a plodding team short on third and fourth line talent to what seems like one of the fastest rosters in the league is pretty noteworthy.

How about Orlov just tossing Hagelin into Holtby? Cant contain his speed so toss him into your own goalie? :lol im fine with it.

And :lol if you think that Malkin hit was dirty. Kept is arm in tight, didnt leave his feet until after contact and didnt target his head. Caps player (Wilson?) was bent down going into the hit, which is why it looked high at all.

:thumbsup Yeah, you know my hard-on for defensemen, but Hagelin has been wonderful for the Penns. Complete resurgence of his whole career. I remember when he was acquired people were asking about him and the scouting report I gave was that he was fast, but that was about it. I believe I said something along the lines of, "if he cared at all, he could really make an impact."

Well, he seems to care. And he's making an impact.

yea, except the way Hagelin landed was a bit scary

could've easily been a neck injury but thankfully he was fine

putting Kessel and Hagelin together on a line is where this whole turn around stems from

Or his skate could have sliced Orlov's face off.

Yikes.

Rangers history over the last 10 years seems to be full of players that were once on their team leaving and coming back to beat the Rangers in the playoffs.

Gabby, Callahan, Boyle, Stralman, and now Hags.

Definitely hurts.

A bit scary? Thank God he caught most of his weight on his forearms before his helmet hit the ice.

I mean, he hit him in the head. Whether he targeted it or not is irrelevant. Good thing you threw an lol guy in there to emphasize the fact that you don't know what you're talking about.

Except for that whole illegally making contact with the head part

barbogast 05-05-2016 11:25 AM

Re: The NHL Thread

Look I'm 0% upset about the Malkin hit. For an illegal hit, it was indeed delivered pretty cleanly.

This series has come down to the fact that the Penns have had better goaltending and better puck luck. Both teams are playing really well. Holtby has not been great. Those that say he has are not right. Murray has been great, although I still think the Caps are making it too easy on him. There's no denying the Penns have received a few more lucky bounces than the Caps. But that's hockey and the one part of the game that rarely works out in my favor.

Penns will win this series. Whether it's in 5 or not I don't know. But the Caps won't come back from this.

Winnik tried cutting back to the middle of the ice, with his head down, and Malkin shouldered him

it was a perfectly legal hit

Malkin was leading with his big butt and hips more than anything

Re: The NHL Thread

sorry barbs, it wasn't an illegal hit....if it was, there'd be a hearing today
