Looking at the reviews from the jones beach show this year. 2 different people said "great show, weak encore".

The encore was Space Between, Minarets > Halloween :lol:lol

I really like this year's lights and screen. Specifically, I love the lights at the end of Minarets this year. Check out this video from Dallas. Skip to 7:00 and watch the craziness fade away around 7:20. Really cool.

DMB could pull off a pretty good cover of Ordinary World by Duran Duran. Maybe just Dave & Tim. I dunno

It's how lazy the front man is. When he wants to be comfortable with sets, that's when the tour is at its worst. Missing spoon, let you down, 40, and so many other songs now making their way into the acoustic sets makes me mad. It's a complete joke

Really? :lol

You accuse others of using hyperbole, then claim that Daves setlist decisions are a "complete joke" that actually make you mad.

Holy shit.
It just hit me.

In the context of being a dmb fan, yes, it does. The shows weren't good at all up til deer creek. Been real good lately. Not really fair to those who saw shows early in tour.

There is no hyperbole here either. They are in fact doing very well right now. Alpine wobbles a bit but west palm and Tampa for once lived up to hype.

I thought Atlanta was pretty solid, and I was comparing it to 2014. Clearly, they've upped their game since then, and I'm actually looking forward to the Gorge more this year than last.

There have been other tours that start strong and end poorly...I saw 3 shows in 2010. I bought tickets after seeing that super strong opening weekend.
Did I hear any of those highlights at the shows I attended? Nope. Is it unfair? Not really, it's just how this band works.

Yea I used to like it when the band would space out Hartford and Mansfield even just by a few weeks it would make a difference.

thank you!

It's the loudest critics on this site that are actually the biggest "ballwashers." You know who I'm talking about. They're so far up DMB's ass that they take things personally and think Dave is out to get them :lol They also sound like the high school girl who tells you she's over her ex-boyfriend...constantly.

I can't believe WPB didn't get any of: LYD, spoon, beach ball, ants, tripping billies or ddtw. Loving wings was hugely unexpected though

YNK is a perfect fit for the acoustic set, and we haven't heard it at all this tour

If I could have picked one stop for this tour, it would've been WPB. Best setlists to me.

Tampa got 3 of those in one show.

Re: Random dmb thoughts that don't need its own thread

People here put way too much importance on songs in the context of tours. Like how people hate Jimi only because it's played a lot. People here are wanting Tim to leave and Butch to come back. People are over Minarets openers. All of the sudden, Jimi would be a good song if it was in the acoustic set? Cmon :lol. After ten plays there, people would say "play Jimi electric!"

People seem to forget how bleak things looked in 2005-2007, and how much better they are now.

People hate Jimi because it's far too long with the same old 'sexy MF' outro.

Tim is just too loud. I think he's been turned down a bit the past 2 tours, which is kinda nice. I'd love to see him pick up an acoustic guitar in the acoustic set every now and then. I never disliked Butch, so I wouldn't mind seeing some keys back in the equation.

Anyone who hates a Minarets opener sucks at life.

Thank you. Someone gets it. This is still one of the best shows I've seen from this band.

They did FWIW in the Jimi I saw this year. It showcases every member of the band. People just don't have patience for jams anymore I guess. It's different every time. Butch drowned out Daves guitar too. Personally, I'd rather listen to Tim than Butch.

Re: Random dmb thoughts that don't need its own thread

It's just when people are asked why they don't like Jimi Thing, it's like "Oh it's played too much, makes the spots of other songs, etc.". It's never about the music or the lyrics...it's about NOT being other songs. That's what I mean. In my mind, a good song is a good song, whether it's a TD or has been played every show

Re: Random dmb thoughts that don't need its own thread

I just imagine some people crossing their arms and being like "ugh, I've been to 8 shows this year and this is my 6th Jimi". Welllllll whose fault is that?? I don't know how people can witness a whole crowd singing the lyrics, then some crazy extended Boyd solos, then watch Jeff and Rashawn do call-and-answer for a few minutes, often interpolating covers, then laying down an awesome horn line on the fly under Tims solo...and say "meh." And if you aren't having fun during Sexy MF, I think it's time to dig deep and remember why we go to shows...to have fun, not to pad stats. I guess I should speak for myself :lol

Re: Random dmb thoughts that don't need its own thread

Everything after the end of the Jimi Thing jam is forced and unnecessary. Dave's babbling, Tim's superfluous solos, and the embarrassing Sexy MF outro. Just end the song after the jam, and it's improved greatly.

Re: Random dmb thoughts that don't need its own thread

The band just has way too much fun playing Jimi Thing. Seems to be way too much dancing as well from the crowd. Recipe for disaster at a show.

Agreed. Especially the MF outro. Just stupid.

Or go into the FWIW or WWBOM....Either of those would be totally welcome.

I guess I can understand not liking that part...but goddamn, I always have a blast with that live. I mean it's a few minutes of an outro...it shouldn't ruin the song completely. A lot of people rank Jimi alongside with Eh Hee, Can't Stop, etc, when ranking a show...blows my mind.
