Re: Random dmb thoughts that don't need its own thread
Looking at the reviews from the jones beach show this year. 2 different people said "great show, weak encore".
The encore was Space Between, Minarets > Halloween :lol:lol |
Re: Random dmb thoughts that don't need its own thread
Alligator Pie in acoustic set. Cmon DMB.

Re: Random dmb thoughts that don't need its own thread
I really like this year's lights and screen. Specifically, I love the lights at the end of Minarets this year. Check out this video from Dallas. Skip to 7:00 and watch the craziness fade away around 7:20. Really cool.

Random dmb thoughts that don't need its own thread
DMB could pull off a pretty good cover of Ordinary World by Duran Duran. Maybe just Dave & Tim. I dunno

You accuse others of using hyperbole, then claim that Daves setlist decisions are a "complete joke" that actually make you mad. |
Random dmb thoughts that don't need its own thread
Holy shit.
It just hit me. The next big segue should be: Be Yourself [dibba intro] >> Sweet Up And Down /micdrop |

There is no hyperbole here either. They are in fact doing very well right now. Alpine wobbles a bit but west palm and Tampa for once lived up to hype. |

Did I hear any of those highlights at the shows I attended? Nope. Is it unfair? Not really, it's just how this band works. |
Re: Random dmb thoughts that don't need its own thread
Yea I used to like it when the band would space out Hartford and Mansfield even just by a few weeks it would make a difference.

It's the loudest critics on this site that are actually the biggest "ballwashers." You know who I'm talking about. They're so far up DMB's ass that they take things personally and think Dave is out to get them :lol They also sound like the high school girl who tells you she's over her ex-boyfriend...constantly. |

I can't believe WPB didn't get any of: LYD, spoon, beach ball, ants, tripping billies or ddtw. Loving wings was hugely unexpected though

Re: Random dmb thoughts that don't need its own thread
YNK is a perfect fit for the acoustic set, and we haven't heard it at all this tour

Re: Random dmb thoughts that don't need its own thread
People here put way too much importance on songs in the context of tours. Like how people hate Jimi only because it's played a lot. People here are wanting Tim to leave and Butch to come back. People are over Minarets openers. All of the sudden, Jimi would be a good song if it was in the acoustic set? Cmon :lol. After ten plays there, people would say "play Jimi electric!"
People seem to forget how bleak things looked in 2005-2007, and how much better they are now. |

Tim is just too loud. I think he's been turned down a bit the past 2 tours, which is kinda nice. I'd love to see him pick up an acoustic guitar in the acoustic set every now and then. I never disliked Butch, so I wouldn't mind seeing some keys back in the equation. Anyone who hates a Minarets opener sucks at life. |

Re: Random dmb thoughts that don't need its own thread
It's just when people are asked why they don't like Jimi Thing, it's like "Oh it's played too much, makes the spots of other songs, etc.". It's never about the music or the lyrics...it's about NOT being other songs. That's what I mean. In my mind, a good song is a good song, whether it's a TD or has been played every show

Re: Random dmb thoughts that don't need its own thread
I just imagine some people crossing their arms and being like "ugh, I've been to 8 shows this year and this is my 6th Jimi". Welllllll whose fault is that?? I don't know how people can witness a whole crowd singing the lyrics, then some crazy extended Boyd solos, then watch Jeff and Rashawn do call-and-answer for a few minutes, often interpolating covers, then laying down an awesome horn line on the fly under Tims solo...and say "meh." And if you aren't having fun during Sexy MF, I think it's time to dig deep and remember why we go to shows...to have fun, not to pad stats. I guess I should speak for myself :lol

Re: Random dmb thoughts that don't need its own thread
Everything after the end of the Jimi Thing jam is forced and unnecessary. Dave's babbling, Tim's superfluous solos, and the embarrassing Sexy MF outro. Just end the song after the jam, and it's improved greatly.

Re: Random dmb thoughts that don't need its own thread
The band just has way too much fun playing Jimi Thing. Seems to be way too much dancing as well from the crowd. Recipe for disaster at a show.
