I'm for fighting but the stupid shit from Leafs/Sabres is dumb. I mean if John Scott said he was gonna jump Kessel it's just stupid. That has no place in the game because you are just there to hurt a star player. If Phil did something and he had to answer for it that's one thing, but even then, you don't send a guy like Scott after him. You make it somewhat of an even fight.

The preseason stuff can be dumb overall too though. It's just guys trying to make a name for themselves and they rarely make the teams. Saw it in the Wings/Bruins game in Boston a few nights ago. Some guy just going after Kindl for no reason trying to pick a fight and Kindl just shoved him away and eventually they had a little fight but there was no reason for it.
Of course I'm biased but 23rd for the Wings? When the team was healthy we saw how good they could be down the stretch and in the playoffs. Add Alfie, Weiss and Helm along with a more experience D they'll be better than last year.

Also the Oilers at 96 points???? I just looked at who wrote it. Who is that guy? It's not Pierre or Burnside so it's not worth the look. Plus only one team over 100 points? In 2012 we had 10. Plus the Wild 2nd to last in the league?

What are the thoughts on this scenario I've seen proposed a couple times yesterday....

Due to the stupid rule that Clarkson can still play in the pre-season, before his 10 game suspension kicks in....what is stopping the team from playing him, and then he somehow gets "hurt" for roughly, let's say 10-games. The Leafs put him on the LTIR, thus removing his salary from the cap for that time, and as such eases up the Leafs cap pains.

Kosher or not? Did I explain that well enough? I always hated English class...

Is there a rule where you can't be on LTIR if suspended? I don't know but I would think there is. Is he suspended without pay? I know that makes no difference to salary cap but if he is on LTIR he gets his money right? I don't think you can have it both ways.

They have 1 team projected to get 100+ pts. They are regressing things a lot. Top of the list is probably about right but the middle is pretty mystifying. Wings/Nucks/Sharks way too low.

I remember a couple years ago Dan Carcillo had to face a 10 game suspension (or 5 games, I don't remember) after this hit:

Carcillo obviously hurt himself on the play, and actually ended up being out for the remainder of the season (thank god). Anyway, reason for the story is that he had to serve his suspension time before the Hawks could put him on IR.

It's a nice thought as a loophole, but unfortunately for the Leafs, they've already taken care of that one. Can't go on IR until you serve your suspension...OR you can go on IR but then you have to serve your suspension when you are taken off.

Not really sure how ESPN has my Rangers at #2 when that have a new coach, new system, and have not resigned their arguably best offensive player yet.

I'll take it, but I don't expect the Rangers to be that high at the end of the season by any means. Playoffs, sure, but I doubt they will enter that high up.

Rangers were a good and unlucky team last year. Maybe they don't have a ton of explosive high-end forwards but it's a solid group led by Nash/Callahan/Brassard and Stepan (he'll sign eventually).

LOL. Again I don't know who that guy even is. It's not LeBrun or Burnside who are pretty good. They must have assigned some random internt who has never watched hockey before. If the placing of teams wasn't bad enough, like I mentioned earlier, only one team over 100 points when our last full season had 10 teams over 100.

I think that's close to what the Wings were offering on July 5th. Devils give him more of a shot at the top-6 though and Wings couldn't promise him that with Weiss and Alfie coming in.

Would have liked to have kept him but it was his choice.
