It has been too long since we've had some quality Kessel posts.

He is rapidly becoming my favorite player ever.

Tomorrow night is my 1st Pens game of the season. Very pumped!

Damn, they way Jimmy Howard played tonight I am not sure an all star team could have gotten more than one shot past him!

Auditioning for some teams in need of a starting goalie? Hmmm....

Not bad for his first start. If he plays like his value will be sky high. Unless it gets them a top d-man I want him all year to be backup and trade him before the expansion draft.

A couple things about last night. Vanek still going strong. He's proving everyone wrong, which is great to see. Second, why couldn't the shot totals be reversed? I have Henrik on my fantasy team and not only did he not get a win (happy about that) gave up 2 goals on only 18 shots.

Rangers always out shoot the other team. They want to prove how inaccurate the entire team can be at hitting a target. I'm not 100%, but I'm pretty sure they lead this category every year in the NHL. It is a New York tradition!

The last year or so the Wings have been very good at getting out-shot so that might have been part of it too. Happy about the win though. The Wings best two lines....the 3rd and 4th.

Also just saw what happened in Winnipeg. Yikes Leafs...Frederik Andersen has been brutal to start the year. GAA is like 3.6 I think.

didn't catch the GWG, was too tired, but the goal to tie it up he had no chance on from a deflection standpoint.

Neither was really his fault but his stats line didn't help me at all so that's all I care about. lol .889 save % is what it is whether the goals deflected four times or were from 100 feet.

I think he'll be there through the year, like Howard here. I liked all the tweets saying "Is this the end for Fleury?" I think we all knew that in like June.

Agreed. Flower's been nothing short of fantastic, and will be greatly missed when he does leave. But they can't possibly let Murray go.

I know the Pens have been grooming some backups, so I can see them maybe trading Fleury sometime during the season, but it would be nice to have them both for another playoff run (provided the Penns don't crash and burn, of course.)

If he continues playing at a high level and is willing to move he's great trade bait. It's going to be an interesting season.

Based off Rutherford's comments on it throughout the offseason I dont think Fleury will be moved until after the season.

Re: The NHL Thread

God the media can be stupid. Murray's signing doesn't change anything. "Is a Fleury trade coming?" Why? The cap implications for this year haven't changed since yesterday. I mean they tried to trade him at the draft before Murray was signed so why would putting Murray under contract, that starts next season, make a trade any more or any less likely now?

I agree with you in that I don't think Rutherford is actively shopping him, but if there is a need that surfaces with the Pens, or another GM makes an offer too sweet to refuse, I can't rule it out entirely.

I'll ask if I bump into him tonight.

Agreed - I was just pointing out that he looked damn sharp last night. As for trading him will take quite a bit of maneuvering because moving a 32 year old who has two years left on his contract ($5.29 million annual for this season and next) is going to take some sacrifice by any team willing to take him. If they cannot move him the Wings best bet is not to protect him and hope an expansion team snags him.

Yeah, if any players should start having a peek at real estate in Vegas, I'd think it would be Jimmy Howard and Dustin Brown.
