I would gladly take Erat.

I love his two-way instincts. With his skill-set, he'd be a 70 point guy on a more offensive team like the Pens or Hawks

Florida will definitely make the playoffs. They're the Bolts from last year.

I don't see this at all. Tampa has high end talent that Florida lacks. Versteeg and Fleischmann don't compare to Stamkos and St. Louis.

Agreed.

What you guys (that are making fun of the Preds forwards) need to remember is the type of game they play in Nashville. It doesn't really benefit guys to put up huge points. I'm not saying they have the depth at forward that Detroit/Chicago/Philly/etc. do, but they certainly aren't as "bad" as their numbers say.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

If FLA doesn't make the playoffs, they will have just missed it. They're in a great system. I know I just said this about Trotz, but Dineen has managed to convince this overhauled team to buy into his sytem. What you get is a team full of Kevin Dineens. Not a bad thing.

Gosh DJ, you and I are not on the same page today :lol

Disagree. In fact, they have quite a skilled group of guys. Hornqvist, Erat, etc are tremendously talented. The reason they don't appear that way on the scoresheet is because the budget-based Preds rely on a team system to even stay competitive. The brilliance of Barry Trotz is that he's convinced all these guys to buy into it.

Of course, this regular season success does not mean anything until it can transfer to playoff success. But anyone who actually sits and watches these guys play will conclude they are not the best in the league, but they're pretty damn talented, not embarrassing by any means. Chad, Be proud of the work ethic your team exhibits. That's the thing I love most about the Preds.

Oh I'm very proud of the work ethic. It's the reason I latched on the to the team. I was just agreeing that the talent level for the Preds isn't the same as some big budget teams.

Although I'm the first to admit that I still don't know a whole ton about hockey. This is the first year I've been watching and I can't get enough of it. I'm watching every single game that comes on since I found the channel. Really love the sport. I do enjoy this thread because I just kind of read and learn most of the time.

I say this is the first year, I watched some last year near the end of the season and then I went to my first games which were against Vancouver in the 2nd round. Got me hooked.

Good point. I didn't see it like that. Florida is going to turn into Preds East with their whole team system. Remember high end talent doesn't mean the team will see results. Look at the Caps since Ovechkin arrived.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

I guess I can see that. But I just think once again if you compare them to the Preds they don't have the talent on the back end. The Preds system works so well because they have guys like Suter and Weber on D, and Rinne in net. I think Florida's system and top line production is keeping them in the hunt for now, but I think they'll start to fade as the season goes on.

Either way Florida will be an interesting team to keep an eye on for the rest of the year. Everyone seems to have a different opinion on them.

I know it's December but nice comeback win by my Wings last night and a big one. Moved them up a point on the Blues who surely are playing better under Hitch.

Classy of NYC to represent both teams, even when it's not in their city.

Rough game last night but it was just one of those nights where you have to tip your cap to Quick, played an outstanding game. Still think LAK could do some damage this year if they make the playoffs.
