What a great day to be a Caps fan. Great move.

Ridiculous. Caps fans love to put the blame on Boudreau, because God forbid the players catch any blame for playing the same gutless hockey that gets them booted from the playoffs every year. As if Hunter is now going to get Semin to play like a real hockey player. |
Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
Bruins have a point in the last, what, 12 games or so???:bounce 11 out of 12 with 1 s/o loss in 3 weeks? Can you say---B - peat????

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
Well bruce thanks for the memories hopefully I will see your drunk ass out at the bars again.
Good move by the caps. In leonsis I trust! |
Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
Sometimes a coaching change can be the catalyst for team-wide change, but in the end it's the players that have to decide they want to go to the next level, i.e. playing as a team. Yes, I'm talking to you, Ovechkin and Semin. Two of the most purely talented players in the whole league, with absolute shit for attitudes.
EDIT: If Hunter as a coach is anything like he was as a player, he'll be the complete opposite of Boudreau. Will be interesting to see how the players respond. |
Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
Quote:
Bruce preached playing aggressive and being tough for 3 years now...the team very rarely responds. When there are players talking about BB needing to institute more discipline...it's time for him to go. He lost the team. |

I think very few of us are saying Boudreau shouldn't have been fired. I believe he should have, and I'm excited to see what Hunter brings. My only disagreement is with the people who place the blame completely on Brucey. Sure, he couldn't get the attention of his team. That's partly his fault, but it's partly the players' who decided they'd rather be an underachieving team than suck it up and play real hockey.

Milan Hejduk gets the "C" in Colorado. This surprised me, as I imagined them going with a youngster like Stastny or Johnson. Nevertheless, Hejduk, while the quieter type, has a history of hard work and winning and is one of the few seasoned veterans on the roster. Not a bad move, just not one I expected.

Sabres have sent three players back to the AHL, so they are no longer Buffalo Amerks. Although after the way they played Saturday that might be a bad thing. I actually went to the Rochester Amerks game on Saturday and saw Roch native Derek Whitmore score four goals. It was sweet and probably the most fun I've had at a AHL game in a long long time

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
I'd say the original Pens jersey and the Hawks jersey are the best Winter Classic uniforms. I actually like the Flyers' uniform better this year, especially if the Keystone captain patches turn out to be true.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
Slow here at work so I just looked up an interesting stat. The Ducks have scored 49 goals this season, and 20 have come from Selanne, Getzlaf, Perry, and Ryan. Also, only SIX forwards (the aforementioned plus Koivu and Cogliano) have scored more than ONE goal this season. They will definitely want scoring.

Hey guys, if you want some quality hockey shirts, check out Grinder Threads. http://www.grinderthreads.com/
They're affiliated with our site but I honestly wouldn't waste your time if I didn't think these were quality shirts. They're similar in material to DMB's tour shirts and they're very comfy. Some great shirts including The Checking Line which was made to tribute our hockey site. |
Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
Do they shrink like DMB's shirts do?
|
Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
Good question. Got mine yesterday, washed it and it didn't shrink. Then again I hang-dry most of my shirts so they don't shrink.
I don't know if it'll happen in future washes. |

Neal snipe, Crosby's 10th point in 5 games.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
Crosby is so nasty with the backhand, whether it's passing or scoring.
And I love the ferociousness in NYR/PIT/PHI/NJ games when they play each other. The Atlantic is so underrated in the hatred department. |

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
Big win for the Rangers last night. Finally getting consecutive wins over the "big" teams. Both teams last night took dumb penalties though. Could have killed the Rangers in the first period and killed off any chance for a Pitt comeback in the third. In the end, two class teams that are stacked with talent put on a good show!
|
Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
What a complete abortion of a game last night, holy fuck. This team the past 2 years is definetely missing the swagger they had with the group that won the Cup and made a run the year before that. Not to mention Craw looked extremely mediocre and has for a while now.

Boudreau is the new coach for the Ducks. The Ducks management really licked out with this one, IMO. Boudreau gets a lot out of younger players because of his experience in te AHL.
