2023/2024 Tour Rumors Thread

With the 2022 Summer in the books, and the 2022 Fall rumors thread ending and a tour resulting, I'm going to kick off this one for next summer, as rumors are already starting to come in.

First up, via anonymous, apparently stadiums are being considered for Summer 2023.

Someone has to help me out with the idea of stadiums. They aren't currently selling out most of the amphitheaters that they are playing. Why would they suddenly be able to fill up stadiums? Unless they believe they have the next Crash Into Me sitting in a vault and they are about to unleash it upon the masses in February of 2023 just as tickets go on sale.

Minor league maybe? They played our minor league baseball stadium here in 2009, which has a capacity of just 7300.

Could be some minor league parks which would be ok.

I have noticed quite a few empty seats at some venues this year - VA Beach, for example.

WPB had such a huge patch of empty space on the lawn. I heard under 10k people total night two. No way on stadiums. And to hell with the acoustics and gap between the infield seats and stage. I really hope stadiums don't happen.

It could work if they plan on playing significantly less shows overall and/or have some big time opening acts.

I would like to see them in a stadium at least once since I was not old enough to experience it in 99-01...after that no thanks

They should reconsider. Unless they want to make it a mini caravan with like 3 or so supporting acts then sign me up

Fenway seats ~ 38k, not sure what it would go up to for a concert but considering Mansfield is around 20k, and Hartford is 30k, I would think a return to Fenway would not be out of the question.

I don't think I've seen them at a proper "stadium"

In 2009, I saw them at our minor league baseball "stadium"

Seeing them at the United Center in 2012 I count as somewhat "stadium" since the Blackhawks play there

But I'd love a Wrigley or Busch Stadium show, as a huge baseball fan I'd travel for either one of those

Unless they get some big opening acts, I just don't see them headlining stadiums anymore unfortunately.

Speaking of stadiums, does anyone know why after 2013 they stopped playing HersheyPark Stadium?

Heat stroke and sales?

I dont think they'll have any problem selling tickets to Fenway. People go to Fenway for more than just the act on the the stage or horrible baseball product.

I like the Mansfield venue, but its a pain to get to from Boston and obviously a nightmare to leave.

Is this a guess or..? Wasn’t sure if there was ever talk as to why it got dropped after being on schedule for 15 years.

Ticket sales were horrible, like 15k / 30k

The sound in all stadiums (football, baseball, minor league) is worse than an amphitheater. Hopefully this rumor doesn’t come to fruition.

Re: Summer 2023 Tour Rumors Thread

I wore my Wrigley shirt to Shoreline and when I put it on I thought to myself "it's pretty insane that is the only year they played Wrigley". Seems like it should be a shoo-in. Rotate Alpine and Wrigley, not that Northerly garbage.

Re: Summer 2023 Tour Rumors Thread

100% agree. If Zac Brown can play Wrigley it seems every other year, so can DMB. Are the Lumineers still big? They sold out Wrigley this year, which was shocking.

The stadium rumor intrigues me as I would assume it means less two nighters and a smaller schedule.

As long as they still play SPAC and the Gorge I dont really care where else they play.

Re: Summer 2023 Tour Rumors Thread

If stadiums are seriously in consideration for 2023, I can only see a handful of opportunities.

- Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia
- Nationals Park, Washington DC
- Fenway Park, Boston- ONLY ONE SHOW
- Wrigley Field, Chicago- ONLY ONE SHOW
- Citi Field, NYC- Possibly 2 shows, but probably not
- AT&T Park, San Francisco
- Bank of America Stadium, Los Angeles (New stadium, seems to hold around 20-25K for a concert)

Other than that, it would be either minor league parks or the usual amphitheaters. I saw DMB at the Columbus Crew Stadium in 2008. It was a good show and a good setlist, but the venue sucked! Poor sound, venue was half full, and those that were there weren't very lively. You could almost feel the venue sucking the life out of the audience. A couple years later they came back to Columbus at the minor league baseball stadium, but I opted for Deer Creek instead that year (which lead me to miss Halloween, but whaterver).

To be fair that was a make up date

Yeah that's probably the main reason honestly. Every show I've been to this year seems to be filled really well. One of the best selling years from my perspective
