All Big 3. That's very nice to see.

What songs do they people think are worse than Bayou? Not songs that you’ve heard more than you like/are sick of…

What songs to you are as sonically one-note, lyrically meaningless, etc. as Bayou?

I’ve mentioned in the past that Bayou & Cornbread are clear cousins, but CB also seems related to Granny which elevates it high above LB in every way for me. There’s no song that they currently play w/ any level of regularity that I really dislike other than Bayou. I’m 100% not interested in So Right, COCO, tSB…really almost all of ED & SU, but no other songs on those albums sink to the depths of trite boringness that Bayou has achieved.

Re: Random dmb thoughts that don't need their own thread

For me, itís not about the quality or lack thereof on a song like Canít Stop or Bayou, itís just the repetitive nature of seeing them so frequently; couple that with the quality of the songs (some really incredible stuff) that are being left on the table when they play these, and now you get peopleís frustration.

In its current state, I actually don't think Bayou is a bad song. The music/jam is above average. The lyrics aren't horrible, and are actually fun to sing along to. I just don't need to hear it anymore. It's a 0 on the setlist game.

I noticed Buddy played the Kronos Quartet parts on Halloween at SPAC. Sounded good.

What happened from the first half of this post to the second?

It's above average, and fun, but...a 0??

Gotta pad those setlist stats, or...somethin?

Been digging into that collection posted by @Vacubsfan, particularly the 90-93 stuff. Anyone else notice the jam on that early BOWA demo is the same as the "new" 2021 jam?

I respectfully disagree with all of this. Nothing redeeming about any recording or performance of the song for me. I do like when it's over AND they stop chanting for Buddy...which is more a bit much...

It's obviously cool if folks like Bayou, but there was a notion that they play worse songs and I'm wondering what those "worse" songs are. That no one has offered up any, it kinda addresses my point that Bayou is a poor song. Clearly the poorest in the band's catalog for me...by far.

I literally cringe when I see the baritone UNLESS they've already played LB that night OR the night before at a twofer. Even then, I might have to suffer through some ED tripe, but all of that is vastly superior...

There are several songs worse than Bayou, like a lot, which isn't to say I think it's good or a +1

Like what? I'm interested in which specific DMB songs (not covers) people think are worse than Bayou. It's an effort to understand the appeal by seeing what they think it's actually better than.

Spoon. Spoon is worse than Bayou.

Hunger
I Did It
Can't Stop
Seven
She
Gaucho
Drunken Soldier
Spaceman
That Girl is You
Alligator Pie

I'm not saying I like Bayou but it's written about an interesting subject, the "lose your way as a child" part is good, and the jam works live

Re: Random dmb thoughts that don't need their own thread

I agree with grilldanmo, Louisiana Bayou is the only song in the DMB catalog that I truly hate. I mean, there’s others I don’t care for (When the World Ends, I Did It, Dreams of Our Fathers, Can’t Stop, Alligator Pie, Cornbread*). But if one of those songs came on the radio, I’d still listen. If Bayou came on the radio, I’d change it at the first note. It is a really bad song all the way around. The riff is horrible and the vocal melody is embarrassing. End rant.

It's a hill that I'm willing to die on.

Even the unpopular opinion thread didn't take me seriously.

I will spread the word like gospel.

Spoon isn't even Top 50.

IMHO, Spoon is the most beautiful song the band has written and is the 2nd best studio cut behind Proudest Monkey.

Spoon might be top 10 for me. Louisiana Bayou > Spoon is an unpopular opinion.

I'll take all of those over Bayou, seven days a week & twice on Sunday. I actually like all of these songs except for Hunger, but even it is far more listenable than LB.

Thanks for sharing your list, much appreciated.

A lot of that list is just embarrassing as a fan but we all have preferences

We got our very own Skip Bayless lol.

Spoon is the best song from this band, IMO
