ehh i don't know about that

i notice that todd richards likes to match jack johnson against crosby, and he hasn't been that effective

crosby seems to out-skate johnson on a regular basis, but thats not a knock on johnson

also, how many times have the pens been healthy when they've played CBJ? not many i'd bet

Johnson does seem to have lost a tiny step this year. Still a steady presence, but not quite the standout he's been in the past.

I wouldn't say barely, he missed 15 games this season.

I meant overall. So that's what 65 games? He must have a presence in the locker room and I agree with you. I'd give it to him too.

So a lot can still happen with seeding. I think Coyotes are done because of the tie breaker personally. So what do we all want? Since we can't do predictions yet.

Pacific is set so..
Ducks vs Stars (kinda funny they got out of the Pacific and will be playing in the playoffs)
Sharks vs Kings (think this will be awesome)

Central:
Avs vs Wild
Blues vs Hawks

Metro:
Pens vs Wings
Rangers vs Flyers

Atlantic:
Boston vs CBJ
TBL vs Monreal

Nice. I didn't see that coming either, but like we've talked about here before, it's the current en vogue thing to do in the NHL. And frankly, it's been successful. I must admit that even I balked at The Gabe getting the C at age 18 (youngest ever), but look how he's grown into the unquestioned leader of the Avs in just a couple years.

And he's not an anomaly... we've seen what Crosby and Toews have done as leaders of their team. And guys like Getzlaf, Staal, Benn, Brown, Weber, Tavares, OMGCG, and Stamkos are all really good young leaders who have grown (or are growing) into their role.

It used to be that the captaincy was something bestowed on you based on your experience. While that's still the case for some teams (Jovanovski, for example), most teams are moving towards giving it to 'em young and letting 'em grow into it. And it seems to be working in many cases (exception: Washington).

I think it would be a good series. Even though the Blues are struggling I think they could handle them a little more than the Avs and I'd want to see some longer series.

My second option for the East would be this: (based on best series not my personal wants)

Boston vs Detroit
TBL vs Mont

Pit vs PHL
NYR vs CBJ

I would say Martin St. Louis could easily score as many goals in that series as he's scored since he came to NYR.
