It appears Sidney Crosby wanted to make sure Jonathan Toews was good with him taking the captaincy for Team Canada in Sochi.

According to CSNChicago.com, Detroit Red Wings and Team Canada head coach Mike Babcock said the Pittsburgh Penguins captain wanted the go-ahead from the Chicago Blackhawks captain before accepting Canada's captaincy for the upcoming Olympics.

"When we were taking about it, Sidney wanted to make sure it was OK with [Toews], just for the fact he won a couple of Cups,” Babcock said after the Wings' morning skate ahead of Wednesday night's game with the Blackhawks. "He's held in high regard, to say the least, and he's a huge part of the reason why they win as much as they do."

Classy act from Syd, and a huge testament to the respect Toews already has around the league. Like we've said before, this kid is already on his way to the legendary status held by Stevie Y, Super Joe, and Lidstrom.

Thanks for sharing. :thumbsup

I'm a Flyers fan tonight with the Jackets right ahead of the Wings. Big game coming up tomorrow for the Wings. Host the Habs. A loss puts them 7 points behind, while a win (regulation) gets them within 3.

the cannon is really fucking loud.

hailtopitt 01-23-2014 09:05 AM

well to be fair any goal celebration is going to seem dumb when the arena is 75% empty

the best scoring celebration in all of sports is for a packers TD. Followed closely by a Bills TD

lol what? it was only introduced in 1995...

don't get me wrong, it's unique, but it just sounds dumb to me

packers TD for sure

i also love the low pitch, foghorn-esque goal horn for the ducks

honorable mention: not a scoring celebration, but if an opposing player fouls out at cameron indoor...the crazies let you know

(i usualy hate the crazies, but foul outs are cool)

:lol it was just my .02

it sounds like a 5th grade choir just learned some simple sing along, it's weird to me

the crazy part is that it was written by the MSG music director at the time...you'd think someone like that could write something a little more creative

It'll be a classic, just you wait. I suppose unique would've been the better adjective.

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

I know Hawks fans like it, but I hate theirs. Just way to repetitive.
