couple weeks ago.. we were at the Tampa win last week so I figured he could take a buddy of his if he wanted to since I did the same earlier in the year.

Still got Caps at the end of the month and the Leafs in April left for us. Hope those games are just as important.

I expected a loss but not this. It was a playoff game and they didn't show up. I hope someone had the balls to stand up in there. At least I got stuff on my eve to watch.

Definitely not Craw. I'm trying to think which goalies would be most effected by this. I think it'll be really interesting to see just how much and what pads their shrinking. The blocker FOR SURE can shrink. Shoulders. Parts of the catching glove. Leg pads can probably lose a little bit to open up the 5 hole...

Average age of the Canes D-men may be low, but they are fantastic. They consistently shut down the best offenses in the league, it's the offense that's the issue.

Been a good game, shouldn't really be close though. Lack needs to kiss the pipes on his way off the ice tonight, win or lose.

Impressed with the Canes for a point tonight. They've gone all in on youth and are still only 2 games behind Detroit for the final spot (assuming they didn't come back against Philly, I didn't check).

Brodie Sutter (first call up from the AHL of the season for him) was a fun watch, and Jaccob Slavin continues to improve each game.

That said, Ovechkin and Kuznetsov in OT looked untouchable, very nice to watch.

Re: The NHL Thread

I'm not quite sure how Kuznetsov wasn't offsides on the Caps' GWG. Maybe someone can correct me, the puck carrier can only enter the zone before the puck if he's skating backwards, yes?

Berube almost stole that game tonight. Still got a point and are tied with the Rag$ with a game in hand.

Still wish that shoot out will go away.

They ruled he was in possession. Which was a tad bit garbage because the same thing happened to Skinner on an odd man rush in the 3rd and he was called off.

But, the Caps hit 4 posts in regulation. I think the result was more than fair all things considered.

The technical rule (regular disclaimer that I'm more in tune with USA hockey rules than NHL) is it's not offsides if he has clear control of the puck, even if he enters the zone before the puck does (like you said, that usually occurs when a guy is skating backwards into the zone). It's a tricky call to make, and most linesmen play it safe and call it offsides, which is why you don't see it come up much.

Uhhhhhhh apparently the NHL is discussing disallowing teams killing penalties to be able to ice the puck.

This would be awful, especially with the no line changes after an icing. I can get on board with a full 2 minute powerplay regardless of if you score, but not this.

Haha, I can see the playoffs are going to be fun if we play each other!

Anyway, Chicago was a blast. United center was a great place to watch a game. The Kings kind of put a damper on the night by not giving up a goal! We all got United Center replicas as the give away which was cool....until the TSA decided we needed to be searched because of them.

As to the shut out....so little history story for my friend Andrew and I. Every time we go to games together this happens. We drove all day to Ottawa once to see them play the Sharks. 1-0 Sharks. So then we went to Boston for the Bruins Flyers playoff game in 2010. Flyers shutout the B's and went on to win 4 straight haha. Two years later we went to the Devils game at 1pm and the Rangers game at 7pm on Saint Patrick's day. Both the Devils and Rangers got Shutout! Now we travel to Chicago....well you know how the story ended. Basically, if we go to games together, the home team is screwed!

:lol classic NHL

instead of making obvious tweaks for improvement, they try to completely change the entire makeup of the sport

this better not happen

Yeah this would be ridiculous

I am very much in favor of full two minute power plays. In a league desperate for goals, that seems like a no brainer

But no icing on the pk is nonsense. I'll be stunned if they do this

hailtopitt 03-16-2016 06:56 AM

Re: The NHL Thread

no icing on pk's is dangerous for the penalty killers. player safety becomes in doubt if you do that
