Re: The NHL Thread
I must admit the jerseys look a little better when I saw pictures of Tavares on the ice in it but I still have a big problem with it because black is not and should never be an Islanders color. If the Brooklyn people wanted it and it's a concession , so be it.
I wish the stadium series jersey became the 3rd jersey but I'm sure the money game deemed a New Jersey necessary to milk the fans out of more cash. |

Bettman's biggest fight has always been expanding hockey to new areas. It's such a niche sport, still, and Bettman knows better than to take away from the momentum he's built just to make short term profits. He's not business dumb, as much as people hate him. I actually like him as a commish, and think he's smart enough to know that he needs to keep building and thinking long term. |

Also - anyone thinking TB might try and move Stamkos before his contract expires at the end of next season since it appears he is headed to Toronto? http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/st...an-youd-think/ |

Re: The NHL Thread
How late does he work?! God damn. This is my only fantasy league for any sport this year.
|
Re: The NHL Thread
Give him until Friday? It's not like the season is starting tomorrow.
|
Re: The NHL Thread
Hey everyone. I am going to start the league back up shortly, I will be sending out invites to last years owners and will be opening up to other teams shortly thereafter.
Sorry to be short and sweet. I'm exhausted tonight. I'll be around more tomorrow and Friday afternoons. |

Carcillo retires. Never a fan of him as a hockey player but have much respect for him as a person and what he aspires to do.

Re: The NHL Thread
Maple Leafs trade 5 prospects for Michael Grabner.
http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/ma...ser-prospects/ Sal, thoughts? |
Re: The NHL Thread
Lots of Meh Prospects. I liked Nilsson, and Verhenge (however you spell his name). Nilsson was good on the back end. Smooth skater, not afraid to hit people and a good shot.
Finn will never play in the NHL. Gibson did alright when I saw him. Beck was the former Nashville guy, right? I don't know a ton about Grabner, other than he is an NHL player. This will also give us a good opportunity to sign the 18,000 PTO's we've got. |
Re: The NHL Thread
So Patrick Kane just spoke to the media for the first time. Basically said nothing of interest, apologized to his family, teammates and the organization, and added that he is "confident he will be absolved of any wrong doing". From what I understand he basically deflected all questions with the ongoing investigation line.

Re: The NHL Thread
I'm not surprised at the move. Once Brock was signed, we had too many forwards and someone had to go. Grabner been shopped all summer . At first I thought Toronto gave us their trash for Bridgeport depth but upon further review , it looks like one or 2 could be serviceable in nhl if injuries occurred.
Grabner was well liked but has been injured often and I wish him well. I'm happy he is gone. |
Re: The NHL Thread
I appreciate this thread.

Re: The NHL Thread
I am confident that once all the facts are brought to light, I will be absolved of having done nothing wrong.
-Kane. So... He will be absolved of doing nothing wrong |
Re: The NHL Thread
I forgot the most important thing about finally trading Grabner. They shed his $5 million dollar contract for this which gives us tremendous flexibility to make a deal to add someone, especially since our cupboard is still so stocked with prospects.
They also signed Steve Bernier today after the trade. He can be our 13th forward for 750K....much more economical. |
