there were 17,140 posts and like 573 pages in the NHL 10/11 thread, and it started a month and a half before this one (i think). CAn we beat those numbers? I think yes

Hilarious.

So my aunt won a contest on WGN Radio (the Blackhawks radio station) and tomorrow I get to go with her to the United Center, help paint the logo at center ice (which is pretty cool), get a jersey with my name on the back (that's real cool), and i get to meet Denis Savard (that's fucking awesome). Last year the Hawks put a whole video of it up on the internet, so hopefully they do that again!

Another thing about the 20 guys/girl in this league, they are 20 people who routinely post in here. I've never done this before, but right now we are at 16. 16 will be cool. 4 more wont hurt.

20 seems like a lot. 16 seems good to me.

joepsu0985 08-30-2011 08:31 PM

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

Im locking it at 16. There are four people from last year who have yet to respond. I haven't seen them in this thread. We will only take them two at a time to keep it even. We are missing these Teams from last year

"Gonzo the Great" -- no clue who that is

"Jeff Jimmerson Fan Club--again no clue

SKA St Petersburg--whoever anthony is.

What the puck--no clue

EDIT: Right now we have two divisions with 8 teams. I have no problem playing with 18 or 20. It's not like there is money on this. It's up to you guys honestly and I'd rather not leave anyone out. Of course there are going to be guys who give up for no reason whatsoever, because they can't spend 30 seconds per day to put in a lineup.

really don't know who these guys are to begin with.

I think Anthony is the Devils fan. So he will join. So we will need likely one more.

So whoever you four people are PM me to get the info.

hey. ill talk kings hockey anytime you want :D

and as to the fantasy league. i think its a big jump from 16-20 in terms of top tier talent available.

20 is fine but it makes it a much deeper league.

We aren't idiots though. It will be fine. I mean think of how many wavier pickups you do during the regular season. This will mean you need to pick those guys up during the draft. And we may have to do an autopick or we will get only 30 seconds for each pick.

Does yahoo allow you to change the draft round length during the draft?

In my ESPN baseball league we went from 1:30 to 1:00 to :30 later in the draft.

Otherwise, i'd set it at 1:00 or :45.

And like i said, all it does is make the league deeper. and i'm assuming a snake draft? but even that isn't going to really help the person drafting 13-16.

It's 30 seconds through out the whole thing. I'm not trying to spend a day drafting.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

:30 is enough time. Spend a day or two before hand with your rankings and then there should be no holdups.

You have to wonder how that affects your conscience, knowing you essentially ENDED someone's career and changed their way of life... maybe (probably) Cooke has thicker skin than I, but I know I'd be absolutely devastated.

You'd think having that on your conscience would make you more aware of your antics on the ice, but in Matt Cooke's case I'm not hedging any bets.

Savard was pretty messed up after it happened and hasn't been the same since. I haven't exactly seen a difference in Matt Cooke's antics after the hit happened, so I doubt we'll see much of a change anyway. I don't think Cooke is losing any sleep at night over this.

Like I said, I'm not hedging any bets as to his remorse. I just know for me, I'd be crushed. I knocked a guy out of a game once on what was ruled a clean hit, and I felt horrible. Couldn't wait to track the guy down and apologize. And that was just one high school game... he was fine after a couple of days. Maybe I"m just a pansy-ass softy :lol

I'd be the same way. I wouldn't want to have to live with the fact I greatly diminished someone's quality of life.
