True but if the Pens get to the conference finals would they fire/trade anyone? Doubt it.

its never old news. I've always liked Chicago, but that was just plain dirty.

yea, unless they get to the cup finals and put on a good showing, disco is most likely gone

They should have fired Disco after Game 2. I've never seen a dumber team with a lead.

no argument here

the most frustrating part is that they have all the pieces, right there...and waste that shit away

We need to take away the East-West passes in our zone. Emery is terrible moving laterally, really slow because of his hip. Flyers did a better job in Game 2 of stopping those kinds of passes, but its impossible to do, especially on the powerplay because of the man advantage.

I'm just terrified that Rick Nash wakes up. Every single shift, he looks like a man possessed.

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

Flyers also need to stop letting Emery face over 30 shots. But they should be fine, they are playing better and hopefully come out quick with the home crowd behind them

I haven't watched until the playoffs. I don't think it's a Cup team because of a lack of forward depth, but it's also not a team that should still be blowing big playoff leads.

This regime and a lot of players have gotten too many chances and offered nothing but excuses.

yep, wasting malkin, crosby, fleury and letang in their primes

Fleury is not being wasted he's part of the reason the others talents are being wasted as of late

uh, no

the pens could've had brodeur in his prime in 2011 and 2012 and still lost

it's a team wide problem, everyone is accountable

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

Fleury was awful and combining that with awful play by others is deflating to any thoughts of a comeback in any game

my point exactly, it's a team wide problem

fleury is no more responsible than the captain, the blue-liners, the coach, malkin, letang etc...

pointing the finger at fleury is the lazy, easy thing to do when in reality it goes much deeper than that

Toews on trash talking after Backes hit:

Quote:

"I didn’t say anything really ...," Toews said. "I don’t know what he was feeling or going through. I guess you can imagine kind of seeing what he was like against the boards there. I think he was pretty fired up and he asked me to fight. That’s the only reason I started talking to him there. I don’t really remember what my words were. I think maybe some of their players thought we were trash talking them after the big hit, but I think we were just trying to clear everything and make sure we can move on from that play.

Allllllrighty then.

Series over. Q is a good coach, but this is moronic. Zus is done. He should not be in the NHL. Bickell has been invisible.

This series is depressing. Losing to the Blues is one thing. But blowing late leads makes it even worse. And then they simply come out totally flat in OT.

call me crazy but i still don't think the hit on backes was that bad.

he didn't lead with the elbow or elevate.

just watched again... he does leave his feet. still if backes isn't so leaned over we're just calling that a good hard sholder check. we can't really know if he was targeting the head or not, as chris pointed out he's been a very clean player in his career, it's hard to believe he would do that.

yea, i guess i should've used the Shannahan phrase that the head was the "priciple point of contact"

plus you should never leave your feet, even on a shoulder to shoulder hit

agree on all accounts, just think 3 playoff games is too much.

that's like a 15 game regular season suspension

i honestly don't even care about the length of suspensions anymore as long as they become consistent and fair

3 games for seabrook but only $5000 for lucic makes no sense to me

both were equally dirty IMO

I can't remember and can't watch the clip right this second but wasn't Backes position pretty consisted through his turning and he was pretty low before Seabrook came in with the charge. I could be wrong and misremembering the hit

Honestly I would lean towards Lucic being dirtier. It's easy with how fast the game is to make a bad hit without intention, but a nut shot like his was so intentional. He should have gotten at least a game
