I would take a top 10 penalty kill and a 30th ranked PP over a top ranked PP and a bottom 10 PK. PK is what is important.

Complete joke that it took coaches this long to figure out they needed to switch to a box. Triangle and one is dumbest PK system I have ever seen.

Sure, I was just pointing out that things haven't exactly changed overnight. Got scored on twice from the point against Nashville, again tonight. Still too soft defending those shots, to me, and I guess that's just Q's philosophy.

Yeah they played well, I'm happy. Not going to get super excited until they fully turn it around. Last 2 games definitely encouraging, 3 of the last 4 they've played pretty reasonably well. PK definitely looked pretty damn good but the Rangers' PP is terrible, too.

Basically exactly what you think they were. :lol

Two thoughts:

1). I wish I could have been a fly on the wall in the Flyers' dressing room after the first period....

2). Is Leino even in the NHL anymore?

Exactly, they always tend to collapse back instead of agressively pursuing the D-man and its backfired on them countless times this year. It's a nice win and one that I don't think anyone expected. Big games this weekend though against a CBJ team that has played well of late and Blues are always a bitch to play against. 2-3 points is a must.

Obviously this is one of those "time will tell" deals, but unless they win the Cup, this was a bad deal (stating the obvious).

What? How do you figure? Grossman is someone the Flyers can re-sign if they want to and they didn't give up any proven assets. They gave up to draft picks that weren't even their own to begin with....

He's better than the 4-5-6 D-men the Flyers are throwing out there now....

I read this and found it funny:

Quote:

“My main goal is to help this organization,” Wisniewski said. “That’s what I signed up for and that’s my only goal. I signed up long-term and that’s a commitment. We were terrible in Chicago when I played there, and then four years later they won the Stanley Cup. It’s all about getting the right draft picks and making the right signings that fit your team.”
yes there were terrible when YOU played there. They trade you away and they go to the WCF's and then win the Cup the following year.

What? He's an UFA at the end of the year. The Flyers could have signed him this offseason regardless. They gave up a pretty significant pick in that 2nd rounder, and a 3rd. That's a lot to give up for a guy that becomes a UFA at the end of the year if they don't bring home the Cup.

:lol:lol

I sort of see what you mean. But the Flyers have young depth already. They don't necessarily need those picks. Plus this gives them the window from late April (when their season will be over) to July 1 to get a deal done with him. The 3rd round pick, in my mind, was given partly to get the all important "negotiating rights". :)

I know we're only talking about Nicklas Grossman here, but he's a good pick up for this team. He is the defensive piece needed to help the dreadful PK and hopefully get the FLyers into the playoffs. Getting in is what matters, and he'll help.

Seems like a steep price for him. I don't know much about him cause other than when he plays the Wings you don't see Dallas a lot on tv. Makes me kinda wonder what the price of bigger name guys will be.

That's what I thought too. You can never have enough depth in your organization as far as young talent, so I don't understand the argument of having depth already. This clearly was a "win now" move.

Going to games at the Xcel Center is surreal. It seems like the mix of fans is usually 70% Wild and 30% Visitor, and the Wild fans are unbelievably glad to have the visitors there.

Perhaps an indication the Lightning are throwing in the towel and becoming sellers?

http://espn.go.com/nhl/story/_/id/75...-bay-lightning

This, along with Kubina being held out last night, seem to be pretty sure signs.

A big fan of Dominic Moore. Underrated as a third-line defensive forward. Works incredibly hard.

That's where we agree to disagree I guess. All in good talk of course. I don;t see this as a "win now" move at all. I see it as a guy who is better than what they have now and someone they feel they will sign to an extension. It's going to come down to whether the Flyers want Matt Carle or Grossman. Both UFAs.

This ^^. As people have been saying on the networks they've been knocking on the door for a while, especially the last 2 years and can't get over the hump. I mean after they dispatched the Wings fast you thought they would give the Hawks a good battle in 2010...yeah not much.

I have to say I see both sides wide open. Bruins are the champs so you have to give them an edge in the East and the Rangers are playing well (last night not withstanding) but both could be beaten. In the West I don't sit here and say wow the Canucks are the best like I did last year. Wings are good but are beatable and the Sharks too. Could be a fun playoff...well always is but perhaps more so now.

Thinking this very same thing. There aren't any unbeatable, march-to-the-Cup type teams this year. I think we could see some interesting rounds and maybe even some big time upsets.
