the avalanche have a development camp going on the next couple of days for their youngest guys. jost is there along with the new draft picks, including smirnov, the kid from penn state who was the top scoring freshman last season. practice is open to the public, so im gonna head over for the afternoon session in a little bit. should be cool to see.

I think whoever signs Alzner is gonna be a little disappointed. Dude wasn't the same this year post groin injury. Hopefully it's something he can fully work through, but it slowed him down this year for sure.

Love the guy, though.

Sounding like Trevor Daley to Detroit is close to done. I'm scared about the term. It better be just 2 years. I might be able to live with 3 but that would be pushing it.

And I'm ok with that. It's a stop gap for the young kids to get here. A lot of Wings fans will probably cry and wonder why but outside of their 7 D on the roster now, they don't have much after that that's ready to play in the NHL. He also gives some mobility/offense on the blueline, which after Mike Green, have none. Holland is looking to compete but improve within for the most part so I'm not worried about this taking time away from any young guys.

I don't know if Oshie wants to stay there because they think they can win, I think his disastrous contract helped him stay

I didn't see him staying. He's getting older and sure did't help the Caps much so... Plus need some money for their RFAs.

Still Oshie deal is bad in term. I can't say much, Wings have a few dumb ones.

Caps re-up Orlov. 6 yrs/$5.1 AAV. 5 team no trade clause starting in 2019-20.

Flyers apparently maybe signing Brian Elliott. Cup bound now with that combo of Elliott and Neuvirth. Stanley. Cup. Bound.

With the Flyers going after Elliott, this leaves Stolarz as the odd man out once again. Have to think they're going to trade him. No reason for him to be stuck in Lehigh for a third season when they can get value for him. Hart has to be their longterm project now.
