6. There is a pretty interesting difference of opinion on expanded video review and/or coach's challenges. Some GMs believe we're a year away, wanting to make sure the process is fully prepared to prevent embarrassment. Others are really against it. One of the problems is the lack of consensus on who should make the final call: the referees with a monitor in the penalty box or the war room with better technology.

7. There's a second problem, too, and it has to do with the idea of video review on a judgment call like goalie interference. Take all of the referees and all of the league's hockey operations people and say, "Here's an example. What's your thinking?" How many different interpretations do you get? Five? 10? 50? One GM said it came up in the meeting that, if the NHL goes this route, maybe only one or two people are allowed to make this type of ruling for consistency's sake.

They want to have everything spelled out, but no one can agree on the spelling.

Sorry Tim, completely missed this.

It's typical NHL GM. No one can agree on anything.

About 32:45. Sorry I don't have a shorter clip. I love how Ray was caught standing at the blue line and was still the first one back. I love that man so much.

Cool to hear, man! Adding that defensive dimension to your game will turn out to be really rewarding, I guarantee it. Guys'll start calling you Stevie Y!

Is this him?

:lol:lol Maybe his brother or something, but about 100+ lbs heavier.

Ahh yes, a classic men's league character: The over-weight former hot shot who still loves to score (and maybe still has decent hands), but no longer has the physical capability or desire to move up and down the ice.

Seriously. Are we really arguing over that stuff? How hard does they have to make EVERY SINGLE DISCUSSION.

I guess it's just like any other workplace. My office has plenty of people that make me want to put my face through a pane of glass.

This guy didn't have good hands :lol

Pretty sure he put down like 20 wings and a cheeseburger before every game. I have no idea how he got into the league, but what a waste of $600.

I shouldn't be surprised. The original crease rule, it was so black and white if your toe was in the crease it was no goal. Even if it was an empty net goal and you were there before the puck: no goal. Then after you had some really dumb goals waived off, they still kept it. Ya know...until a Cup was decided by a questionable goal.

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

Well....Helm has a setback and Weiss going for another opinion. It's all but done now unless they can pull off a miracle. They just don't have enough mature skill on the team right now to compete with the other teams. My dad shouldn't have bought those tickets to the Wings/Habs next week.

Right. That's what I'm saying. Classic NHL.

Just won a game used Patrick Sharp autographed stick at a silent auction at work.

95 flex for those that are wondering.

Leddy game used was also auctioned, signed by the entire 2013-2014 team. Also 95 flex.

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

Yes, Matty, Sharpie get this:

http://3.cdn.nhle.com/sabres/images/...0349_slide.jpg

out of a 95 flex that appears to have been cut down a little bit, probably an inch or so. So more like a 102-105.

Christ.

Good Lord. What those guys are able to get out of their sticks never ceases to amaze me. I sit comfortable at anywhere around an 85, which I find to be plenty stiff enough for some crease-clearing cross checks. That he is able to produce that kind of movement on what is considered to be fairly stiff flex baffles me.

Congrats on the win! Way cool!

Awesome man! If you don't mind me asking, how much did it go for? Also, Saad is out tomorrow night, so you are going to lose.

Thanks!

It's unbelievable, isn't it? I'd kill to be able to put that kind of torque and have my shot end up even as accurate as Happy Gilmore's. Every time I try to load up like that, I feel like I should yell the line "IS THAT GOAL REGULATION SIZE OR WHAT?!"

Just kidding. It was $575. But the money wasn't really even a thing. Without going into the nitty/gritty details, a guy that works in my department on the same floor as me here at the Sears Tower ended up killing himself a couple months ago. The proceeds are all going to his children's college scholarship fund.

It was an awesome piece the Blackhawks donated (they also donated that Leddy, as well as a game used autographed Crawford stick, as well as about 40 pairs of tickets) to the company, so I felt like it was a great chance to help out the family and get something pretty fucking cool as well.

So, This is your commissioner checking in for the second time this season.

Well, the regular season is over and here are your final standings.

T-Mo's Griffins (1)
Kings Gonna Win (2)
Thackalanche (3)
Zeke The Plumber (4)
Call of Doughty (5)
Quebec Nordiques (6)

Roose's Team (7)
Chris's Team (8)
Sillywhite (9)
Maatta of Time (10)
Michael's Team (11)
Bros before Hossas (12)

In the championship bracket T-Mo's Griffins and Kings Gonna Win start with a bye week.

Zeke The Plumber is taking on Call of Doughty while Thackalanche faces off against the Quebec Nordiques

The consolation bracket features Roose's Team and Chris's Team with the bye week. Then Maatta of Time square off against Michael's Team and Sillywhite will be facing Bros before Hossas

I guess if there is on thing that we can learn here it is that if you don't give yourself a good name you wont get into the playoffs and god hates the Blackhawks.

Good luck everyone!

Which means Brookbank at wing.

Basically skating 3 lines tomorrow.

Plus, that stick is awesome.

I don't know if there are any others in here that play goalie but I noticed Tuukka doesn't have a top strap around his thigh, is there some advantage there I don't know about? I've never tried this before lol

bonzo48280 03-17-2014 07:35 PM

I can't wait until STL cements their place as the new Vancouver and just loses it in a playoff series. What a day that will be.

bonzo48280 03-17-2014 07:40 PM

:lol STL man. What a pathetic team. Good things are coming on the horizon when this team just collapses in the playoffs. I can't wait.

One of my teammates jokingly called me Ovechkin one night and that was the moment I decided to step up my defense. Can't have that nickname floating around!

That's awesome that your company and the Hawks did that. My uncle works at the tower, I should talk to him and see if he got anything fun. Knowing him the answer is yes....

Just as long as they get to the western conference finals. They do that and they're cool to lose as much as their little hearts desire.

No man child, so that's a plus for you guys!

I will say though, and maybe it's just that the weather is getting better here, and I'm starting to get excited for the playoffs...

But tonight just feels like one "those" nights for 88. I just feel it
