I don't think anyone is hating on Hank. I think we're just criticizing you on your comment saying that he's one of a kind, when clearly there are goaltenders who are just as valuable to their team's success or more so than Hank is to the Rangers.

No one is hating on Hank. Just saying there are others who are playing pretty damn well. Hell all of them are.

im talking more specifically about the eastern conference, in the road to the finals. but in honesty, the west is much weaker than the east, in my opinion. and i dont think thats a far fetched opinion. clearly im biased, but i dont think many will jump to disagree.

Came in to post this. He deserves every single accolade he gets this year, but you've got other goalies playing out of their mind as well to help their team win. One could argue just as easily that no other NHL team has Braden Holtby.

We'll talk again when Shea Weber is bashing the Stanley Cup into the glass during his victory lap.

The west is full of good goalies, but I do agree that Hank stands out because he has been stellar year after year since he came into the league. All the goalies in the West are in their first or second year of good play. Not saying they wont be as (or are as) good as Lundqvist, but the King has been doing it at a top level since '06. Can anyone name a goalie who has been that consistent in that time?

'09 is three years off of '06. So talk to me in '15, if he is still that consistent I wall call him on the same level (or better if he has done more).

I understand the love for Hank, I'm feelin' it as well. He's played on some BAD Rangers teams, and consistently played well. This year is the year he finally gets awarded with the Vezina, and no one deserves it more, IMO.

However, there are a lot of goalies playing at the top of their game right now who are equally as important to their teams. Rinne in Nashville, Quick in LA, Smith in Phoenix, Holtby in Washington... all are playing at the level of Lundqvist right now. The playing field is pretty equal right now as well... none of these guys have played in a SCF (excepting Brodeur of course), so I really wouldn't put Hank above any of the others right now, as much as I love him.

I also think Quick had a better year than Hank. He'd be my pick for the Vezina, that Kings team isn't even a playoff team without him. He carried them when they were having a difficult time scoring.

Agree with most of this because I was talking about year in year out consistency. However, Lundqvist has played in high profile games in his career: Gold Medal Olympics game (which he won), Winter classic (which he won), game at home in Sweden (which he lost haha). So i do feel like other than Marty he has had high pressure situations to fall back on that the other goalies do not.

Of course, this is the Stanley Cup, so it is different!

Exactly. Once he's left his contemporaries (Rinne, Smith, Quick, etc.) in the dust, I'll be more than happy to kiss his feet.

It's definitely a close call between the two. :thumbsup

Why would I be mad? You're just running around making yourself look uninformed in regards to the rest of the NHL.

They did compared to LA. The only team that scored less goals than LA was Minnesota. And LA had extreme difficulties scoring all the way until the end of the year.

you are so right. i hate my life talking on a message board about my support for hank finally having a team around him to show his ability as a goalie in this league, supported by a hopeful deep run in the playoffs. jamoc, i was alive and well for the late 90's and early 00's. if you have a problem with me being pumped about a legit cup contender, i suggest you dont read my posts.

I have no issues with you being pumped. You should be excited. But you can't ignore every other goalie left in the playoffs and the fact that most have been just as good, if not better than Hank.

That means they scored more goals than 19 other NHL teams. I'd say that's pretty good. LA scored more goals than 1 NHL team.

Again, hard to prove that any have been better. Only lifting the Cup will determine that! We will just have to watch and see who gets the glory in the end!

like aero said. we've witnessed hank's greatness since 06, including playoff play. thats all we are saying. these guys have showed up this year mostly, which takes nothing away from what they are doing...dude, i watched holtby at the ahl outdoor game in january at citizens bank park lose an ot thriller to the adk phantoms, on a breakaway by shane harper...4 months ago..thats all im saying.
