Re: The NHL Thread

Does anyone else feel like this just doesn't feel like a playoff game? It feels like some random game on a Tuesday in January.

It's really, really slow. Just not very intense, doesn't have that normal playoff speed.

hope Weber isn't seriously injured. I just saw the .gif. It looks like he got a skate in the ankle, foot, achilles area.

Re: The NHL Thread

Versteeg needs to go to the net hard after making that pass. Just watching 88 allows Rinne to come way out of the net since he knows Kane has no other options.

Crawford might not get the bid game 3. Not a good goal to give up there.

Much better tonight at Verizon center. 59 hits. I think I'd the caps stay this physical it will make a huge difference as it def did tonight.

9 goals against for Corey Crawford in 4 periods of playoff hockey.

Eh, bad losses happen in the playoffs.

Big losses to the Wild, Wings, Preds, and Canucks in series that the Hawks won.

3 players with their first career playoff goal for the Preds tonight.

Re: The NHL Thread

If the Flyers can get over a ten spot against the Pens in 2012, the Hawks can get over 6 goals against the Preds.

Re: The NHL Thread

And Versteeg might have just got himself suspended for game 3.

He's been a punk all game. He hasn't had his composure since the drop of the puck.

Oh I know.....shit happens

I am not concerned.

Still took 1 of 2 on the road.

Re: The NHL Thread

Eh, nevermind, not suspension worthy, but still unnecessary and cheap.

Stole home ice, that's all you can ask in the first two games as the away team in the series. The Madhouse will be alive Sunday afternoon.

Re: The NHL Thread

That said, I think we see Vermette (obvious), Rundblad and Darling in game 3.

Didn't the Flyers win a game 6-2 last year against the Rangers too?

And the Sharks definitely won a game like 7-2 against the Kings as well.

I bet Crawful starts.

Agree with Vermette.

Good win by the Preds, ice was tilted in their direction all game.

I honestly don't see how you can. I was all for Crawford starting tonight, but I thought he'd be on a relatively short leash.

Darling had one of the all time great goaltender performances in game 1, and Crawford has let in at least 4 (maybe 5) soft goals in 4 periods of playoff hockey. You can't allow that many softies this time of year.

I'm not saying he's Huet, because he's not, but the Hawks made the switch to Niemi in '10. The Wings went away from Howard this year. You just have to go with the hot hand sometimes.

I wonder, just a little forward thinking, if they knowingly resigned Darling and didn't trade Raanta this deadline because they knew they'd have the two of them next season and Crawford was going to be a cap casualty. If that's the case, the switch to Darling just has that extra fuel to the fire from the front office.

Crawford though...I want to stand behind him, but....maybe he needs some more downtime?

Re: The NHL Thread

Sweet G.D win for the Caps today. The stars stepped up when they had too. Ovechkin and Backstrom with huge goals.

Caps really dominated from the Isles 3rd goal on. Great performance.

I literally lol'ed on the Backstrom goal replay. All 4 defenders were covering the passing lanes assuming he would pass and then BAM shoots it past Halak

Holtby HAS to get healthy for Sunday

Yeah, the thing is though, going back and forth in the playoffs is rarely a formula for success. If you go to Darling, you're pretty committed for the rest of the run.

I mean, I guess I could see if he goes in Sunday and doesn't play well, going back to Craw for game 4, but if he plays even moderately well, you have to stay with him.
