Yes, Ottawa tried to trade him during the draft and Spezza said he wouldn't go to Nashville.

That's why Nashville pulled the trigger with the Pens for Neal.

Yeah Spezza said basically he wanted to go to a better place than Nashville. Then went to Dallas.

Aren't those the ones they wore in the late 90's early 2000's? I don't think they are that bad.

No way! I loved those Blues jerseys! I have an Al McInnis #2 jersey from those days. That was a case of me liking a team based on the Jersey.

Just like recently I have been following Nashville as my team in the west based on jersey and loving they city!

nice start for CBJ especially considering the injuries.

Re: The NHL Thread

Kings look absolutely terrible. Only reason we got that win last was was because of goal tending. Jones was on fire and whomever was in net for the Jets was bad, both of the guys. Hope they start to find their feet soon.

82 game schedule. They should be fine. It's also not uncommon for the champs to struggle out of the gate. Hard to be super focused after a summer of partying and the last hockey you played meant a little more than the first three games of 82. Hey, you could be the Panthers playing their home opener in front of less than 12k people.

Oh I know, I'm not ready to throw my jersey on the ice or anything. Just hard to see them THIS bad.

Jeez, I guess as a Rangers fan I am used to seeing my team have an awful start. Come to expect it at this point. Not hitting panic button yet.

Good on Rick Nash for leaving after the 2nd for an important life event that trumps the importance of his day job.

Sometimes people take sports too seriously and think that athletes should miss things like the birth of their child for a game. At the end of the day, it's work for them, and you could bet your ass I would never tell my (supposed) wife that I can't make it to the hospital to see our child be born because I'm stuck in the office.

agreed, but comparing sports jobs and real jobs doesn't really work.

usually i'd agree with this, but when it comes to the birth of a child, they are totally comparable

i agree that the birth of a child is something to miss your job for no matter what your job is, but i can't stand comparing athletes to real jobs. they don't compare

I'm not saying Rick Nash knows what it's like to sit at a desk and contemplate putting a million staples in his forehead just to get out of the office at 11AM on a Tuesday like the average Peter Gibbons does...but when it's things like the birth of your child, it's all the same. Work or real life shit.

Glad he chose real life.

this is true

i bet pro athletes do more family planning than we realize too, especially nowadays

get your rocks off in october and november so the little one comes in July or August

Eh, if it's my kid, it's still not even a thought. I'm not playing hockey to miss my kid being born.
